Established in 2006, Marie Stopes Ghana (MSG) is an affiliate of MSI Reproductive Choices and is one of the largest specialized Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) organisations in Ghana. MSG complements the Ministry of Health and Child Care in the provision of quality and affordable general health and SRH services in all provinces of Ghana.

Marie Stopes International Ghana (MSIG) is a result-oriented not-for-profit organization providing family planning, sexual and reproductive healthcare (SRH) services. MSIG’s goal is to meet the needs of underserved Ghanaians, and dramatically improve access and use of family planning and other reproductive health services.

Job Description

MSI Ghana has a vacancy for a passion-driven, well-organised, client-oriented and energetic individual with the below relevant qualification/s and experience. MSI Ghana’s goal is to meet the needs of the underserved and improve access to the use of Family Planning (FP) and other Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) services.

Length of Contract: 6 months

The job holder will assist in the financial management and the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vouch all requests for adequate supporting documents to facilitate processing for payments and journal entries.
  • Review of account codes, donor reporting lines and posting of journals (Float Advance,Retirements, Momo, invoices and cheque payments) into SUN.
  • Responsible for preparing a schedule of approved supplier invoices for payment on weekly basis.
  • Monthly prepayment releases for rent, staff medical, vehicle and other insurance and general prepayments.
  • Responsible for booking (audit fee accrual, staff call credit and bank transfers & charges for all payments) on monthly basis.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation for all accounts and reconcile POS receipts.
  • Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliation for deferred income, accruals etc.
  • Filing and payment of statutory deduction (PAYE) on staff PAYE (payroll), contract staff (Locum & NSPs) and staff terminal benefits.
  • Prepare to withhold tax schedule and do reconciliation, file on GRA portal for payment on a monthly basis.
  • Participation in quarterly stock count and fixed asset verification.
  • Supporting in the year-end audit process & other duties as assigned.

Required Skills or Experience

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Accounting/Finance related fields.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar role including National Service.
  • Excellent spoken and written English language.
  • Basic accounting knowledge/skills; especially in relation to the NGO sector.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel.
