CERATH Development Organization (CDO) is a non-profit entity catalyzing development in Africa. Operational in Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Kenya, CDO has five main intervention areas. These are (1) Agriculture (II) Fisheries (III) Renewable Energy, (IV)Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) (V) Inclusive Finance.

As a growing organization, CDO is seeking new talents to complement its existing finance and administration with its mission of empowering every actor in the agricultural value chain. Therefore, CDO is seeking to hire a self-motivated, enterprising, analytical, and energetic candidate for the role of Finance& Administrative Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities

The hired candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Maintain the general ledger and coordinate the preparation of monthly balance and reconciliation of project accounts.
  • Ensure the safe, efficient, and transparent handling of all accounting and cash transactions.
  • Maintain cash books and other financial records.
  • Maintain deposit and check register.
  • Prepare the monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Prepare and submit monthly financial reports CERATH’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all supporting documentation is prepared and filed according to CERATH’s procedures.
  • Prepare and submit monthly projections.
  • Coordinate and oversee procurement and financial transactions.
  • Prepare, submit, and file staff and local consultants’ contracts following CERATH’s policies and procedures as well as Ghanaian Labor Law.
  • Support with the payment of salaries and benefits to staff, including updating staff leave records, and ensuring that the project complies with Ghanaian laws regarding employment, taxation, and other relevant issues.
  • Prepare procurement documents for goods purchased, including seeking bids, drafting the purchase order, and liaising with HQ as necessary
  • Support with the payments of vendors and other services or goods in accordance with CERATH’s policies and procedures.
  • Support activities including purchasing, transportation, inventory, warehousing, and delivery.
  • Support office administration duties, including overseeing agreements with security and cleaning service providers, liaising with the landlord on rent agreements and payments, and service of utilities and internet.
  • Support volunteer logistics as needed, including hotel reservation and payments, vetting and payment to additional vendors (e.g., contract drivers or translators if needed), or other tasks as needed.
  • Follows up on outstanding travel advances.
  • Reports all problems with financial administration and compliance without delay.
  • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management.
  • Review and propose strategies for maximizing efficiency reduce costs in order to increase profits.

Duration

The position will be for a period of 1 year, subject to yearly renewal, and contingent on good performance, and availability of funding for the role.

Work Location

CERATH Development Organisation, Westlands, Greater Accra.

Required Skills or Experience

  • At least a Bachelor of Commerce, Business Administration, or relevant tertiary education in business and finance.
  • Excellent financial analytical skills.
  • Must have excellent skills in the use of Tally ERP 9 or Quick Books
  • The ability to utilize SAP software will be an advantage.
  • Candidate must have at least four years (excluding national service) in an accounting/finance role. Candidates without these years of experience will be automatically rejected.
  • Must be fluent in English, with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Candidate must be proactive, dedicated, performance-driven, and capable of working with limited supervision.
  • The candidate must demonstrate experience as a team player.
  • The candidate must be assertive, a good listener, a critical thinker and self-motivated.
  • Skilful at planning and organizing under complex conditions.
