Job Description

The Business Development Specialist should have strong communication and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to think strategically and identify new opportunities. He or she should be self-motivated and able to work independently, but also be a team player and able to collaborate with others. A bachelor's degree in a related field is often preferred, and prior experience in sales, marketing, or business development is typically required.



Some specific responsibilities of a Business Development Specialist may include but not limited to:

  • Researching and identifying potential business opportunities and target markets
  • Generating leads and developing a pipeline of potential clients
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key industry partners and stakeholders
  • Negotiating contracts and closing deals
  • Collaborating with internal teams to develop and implement sales and marketing strategies
  • Setting and working towards sales targets
  • Analyzing market trends and staying up-to-date on industry developments
  • Participating in industry events and trade shows


Required Skills or Experience

To be successful in this role. Some of the key skills and experiences that are important for a business development specialist to have include:

  • Strong communication skills: You must be able to effectively communicate with clients, partners, and other stakeholders. This includes the ability to present ideas clearly, listen actively, and negotiate effectively.

  • Networking skills: Building and maintaining relationships is a key part of business development. You should be able to network effectively, both online and in person, to identify potential partners and clients.

  • Strategic thinking: You should be able to think strategically and identify opportunities for growth and expansion. This includes being able to identify market trends and opportunities, as well as developing and executing plans to take advantage of these opportunities.

  • Sales experience: Business development often involves selling products or services, so a background in sales can be helpful. This includes the ability to identify customer needs, develop sales strategies, and close deals.

  • Project management skills: You may be responsible for managing multiple projects at once, so strong project management skills are important. This includes being able to plan, organize, and execute projects on time and on budget.

  • Analytical skills: Being able to analyze data and make informed decisions is critical. This includes the ability to interpret market trends, financial data, and other information to inform strategy and decision-making.

  • Business acumen: A strong understanding of business principles and practices is essential. This includes knowledge of finance, marketing, and operations.

  • Industry knowledge: You must have a deep understanding of the online food and grocery delivery marketplace industry  This includes knowledge of competitors, market trends, and regulatory issues.
