Job Description
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) seeks to recruit a RESEARCH ASSOCIATE under the Excellence in Agronomy Initiative (EiA) - Ghana.
Duty Station: Tamale, Ghana with some travel to project implementation sites

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Research Associate – EiA Ghana will perform the following duties, among others:
- Compile data sets from field trials, and secondary data sets for supporting project report development.
- Share data sets, literature, and reports to Project Team according to CIAT’s data and knowledge management policies.
- Lead in data analysis and in writing scientific reports and publications
- Take overall leadership on field-related activities:
- Design, draft and share field protocols and experimental plans with team for further input and finalization
- Conduct field data collection across multiple sites in Northern Ghana
- Draft and proofread project reports on field trials conducted with Partners and share timely feedback with Project Leader
- Establish functional on-ground partnerships with the Ministry of Agriculture, NARS in the Region and private sector entities to take Agronomy to scale
- Supervise research technicians, field workers, interns and other staff working in the field
Required Skills or Experience
- MSc in Agronomy, Horticulture or other agricultural-related physical sciences
- Minimum of five years of field experience working with multiple partners including setting up on-farm trials
- Core Competencies
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office products (including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, but also participate as a team member in the accomplishment of duties.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a timely and efficient workflow.
- A positive attitude and strong service orientation.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and sound judgment.
- Experience in supervising, monitoring and mentoring other team members.
- Ability to work in a multi?cultural and multi-disciplinary environment
- Knowledge of French is required
