Job Description

  • Eligibility: The offer is open to any interested and qualified person. However, a candidate who is resident in Ghana is more preferred.
  • Period of Performance: One year with the option of extension based on performance and availability of funding

Scope of Work

AFREhealth is looking for a Resource Mobilisation Manager to work with its Secretariat staff, Governing Council, Executive Committee and Subcommittees to position AFREhealth to identify new business opportunities/grants and increase organizational revenue.

This responsibility includes systemizing AFREhealth’s resource mobilisation processes and procedures by scoping, identifying, tracking and developing new proposals for funding opportunities. Additionally, identify potential new donors, partners and collaborators for future opportunities.

Tasks

Position AFREhealth for new business opportunities:

  • Monitor potential donor websites (such as US government agencies, DFID, Foundations, etc.), to forecast and communicate on a regular basis regarding relevant upcoming opportunities.
  • Review and summarize new business opportunities and potential partnerships in alignment with AFREhealth priorities and strategic plan.
  • Develop and maintain donor profiles for the Executive Committee (ExCo), Governing Council (GC), and other AFREhealth technical experts to better understand donor priorities.

Manage Proposal Processes:

  • Reporting to the Executive Director, facilitating the development of competitive proposals including win strategy, partner strategy, cost recovery strategy, and a go-no-go decision-making process.
  • Monitor and ensure responsiveness and compliance of proposals to the solicitation.
  • Participate in, and/or lead, proposal writing as needed.
  • Develop AFREhealth capability statement for the projects it is implementing.
  • Coordinate the proposal development teams and provide guidance to ensure teams maintain compliance with donor and institutional new business requirements.
  • Maintain the proposal calendar and monitor adherence to the defined process and deadlines for technical proposals, rosters/recruiting, proposal budgets, production schedules and quality standards for proposals. Work with the Executive Director (and technical senior managers as required) to resolve issues with delays or other roadblocks in the proposal process.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications

  • A minimum pf Master’s degree in a related field (i.e. public health, health care management, international development, business administration, public policy, humanities, health economics, or equivalent experience in business development). 
  • At least six (6) years of related experience is required in successful business development, and/or fundraising with evidence of contributing to winning donor awards.
  • Preference to individuals with experience in health research
  • Experience in developing and/or reviewing proposal budgets and cost proposals
  • Experience in working with grant management software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience with U.S. Government, UK Government aid, foundations, and other donor funding agencies and demonstrated experience with management of winning bids.
  • Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to manage complex processes and team relationships to ensure effective collaboration by various contributors to the process, including contributors from multiple offices/units and at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent research, data analysis/synthesis, and presentation skills. Experience in organizing and managing and disseminating large and complex sets of business information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Proficiency in French, Portuguese or Arabic is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle the high-stress environment of business development with grace and a sense of humour
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and work proactively
  • Appreciation for the mission and vision of AFREhealth
