The VTF Programme is a non-profit organization committed to promoting Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Ghana and the employment of the youth for sustainable livelihood. 

Job Description

A Christian-Based NGO committed to employment creation through the promotion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is seeking to employ an energetic young person with a passion for voluntary and development work as a Gender and Entrepreneurship Development Officer

The successful candidate will work together with a team to ensure the delivery of market-oriented and innovative programmes that would facilitate own- enterprise creation and growth of beneficiary businesses. The office is located in Accra but provides intervention in three regions of Ghana.

Duties

  • Support in the development and implementation of gender and HR policies for the organization
  • Facilitate partnerships with other civil society organizations and women groups
  • Support in the development of training programmes and materials for target groups
  • Facilitate training in entrepreneurship to the target groups to improve their income earning capacities
  • Initiate innovative programmes to benefit women entrepreneurs in promoting their image and total development
  • Document case studies and success stories to be mainstreamed into advocacy for women’s right and support
  • Research into gender policies and practices and educate on global and national strategies to promote gender equality and protect women’s rights
  • Identify marketing opportunities for women entrepreneurs by assisting in the organization of trade fairs
  • Support the development of business ideas and plans for target beneficiaries
  • Support enterprise development initiatives of past trainees and graduates
  • Follow up on beneficiary businesses and monitor progress and growth
  • Develop and review training contents to meet industry relevance
  • Engage students/trainees and TVET graduates in development of business pitches/ideas
  • Lead the publication of semi-annual newsletter
  •  Inspire innovation and entrepreneurship in the organization and among the target groups through training
  • Perform market research to identify new opportunities  for TVET graduates and  self-employed target beneficiaries]

Required Skills or Experience

  • A good first degree in development studies ,  social sciences, human resources, marketing , entrepreneurship or related courses
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in a development related organization
  • A Certificate in gender studies will be an advantage
  • Demonstrate understanding of the TVET sector and women issues
  • Strong coordination and organizational skills
  • Good communication, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Must possess good critical, creative and analytical skills
  • Good report writing and research skills
