Ghana Prisons Service Senior Officers Enlistment 2021

The Ghana Prisons Service invites suitable and qualified senior officers who are interested in public safety through safe custody, reformation, and rehabilitation of prisoners to apply for the recruitment and enlistment

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Candidates are to meet the following requirements:

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY/REQUIREMENT

1. Must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth with no criminal record.
2. Must have completed his/her National Service.
3. Must be computer literate,
4. Must be of a minimum age of 21 and not more than 35 years by 31^st December 2021.
5. Must be physically and medically fit by the Prisons Service standard.
6. Must not be bonded
7. Must have a minimum height of 1.67 meters (5ft 6inches) for Males, and 1.57 meters (5ft 2inches) for females.
8. Must have an active e-mail account and for mobile phone number.
9. Be ready to undergo paramilitary Training and other physical training.
10. Medical professionals must have completed one-year post housemanship with a registered hospital or clinic

GENERAL DUTIES

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a minimum of a first degree in any of the following areas. Additional qualifications will be an added advantage.

1. Humanities
2. Social Sciences

AGRICULTURE

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have at least a first degree in the following area and a minimum of one r post qualification working experience.

1. Animal Science
2. Crop Science
3. Soil Science
4. General Agriculture
5. Agriculture Biotechnology
6. Agriculture Engineering
7. Agriculture Economist

EDUCATION

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have at least a first degree in any of the following areas

1. Basic Education
2. Early Childhood Education
3. Guidance and Counselling

LEGAL OFFICERS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a minimum of LLB/BL and must have been called to the Bar with a least one/1 year post qualification working experience.

MEDICAL CATEGORY

i. MEDICAL DOCTORS

In addition, the general eligibility, applicants must at least possess a Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or Medical Doctor and must be permanently registered with the Medical and Dental Council and with one/1 year post qualification expenence

ii. DENTAL SURGEONS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must at least possess Bachelor of Dental Surge, (BDS) and be a permanent registered member of the Medical and Dental Council and with one/1 year post qualification experience,

iii. PHARMACISTS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must at least possess B. Pharmacy (B. Pharm), be registered with the Ghana Pharmacy with one/1 year post qualification experience

iv. PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must at least possess B.Sc. Physician Assistant or BSc. Medical Assistant, be a registered member of the Medical and Dental Council and with one/1 year post qualification experience.

v. MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must at least possess BSc Medical Laboratory Technology, be a registered member of the Allied Health Professions Council, and with one/1 year post qualification experience.

vi. NURSING OFFICERS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have at least a BSc Nursing, be registered with the Nursing. and Midwives Council of Ghana, and with one/1 year post qualification experience.

PROCUREMENT/SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have at least first degree in Procurement/Supply chain management.

PUBLIC AFFAIRS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have at least

• First degree in any of the following: Communication Studies, Public Relations, Journalism.
• First degree in any discipline plus a Diploma in Communication Studies/Public Relations/Journalism.

Previous working experience will be an added advantage.

STATISTICIANS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have at least a first degree in Statistics or Mathematics.

TECHNICAL OFFICERS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have at least first degree or equivalent in the following areas

• BSc Land Economy
• Building Technology
  • BSc. Quantity Surveying and Construction Technology
  • BSc. Construction Technology and Management
• BSc Civil Engineering
• BSc Mechanical Engineering
• BSc Electrical Engineering

Previous working experience will be an added advantage.

RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must be:

a. ORDAINED MINISTER OR CHAPLAIN

Have at least a first degree in Theology. Be of good standing in a Christian denomination approved by any of the following bodies; the Ghana Catholic Secretariat, the Christian Council of Ghana, the Pentecostal Council of Ghana, or other recognized Christian Bodies.

b. IMAM

•  Have at least a first degree in Islamic Studies with excellent knowledge of Arabic.
• Be of good standing in a Muslim denomination approved by any of the following bodies the Office of the National/ Regional Chief Imam, the office of the Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, or other similar nationally recognized Muslim bodies.

NOTE:

For the Senior officer’s category apart from Medical Doctors, Dental Surgeon, Pharmacist with (Pharm D) and Legal officers as indicated in serial 5 & 6 that will be placed on the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Prisons (DSP), all other graduates shall start from Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP) after completion of training.
