The Ghana Prisons Service invites suitable and qualified senior officers who are interested in public safety through safe custody, reformation, and rehabilitation of prisoners to apply for the recruitment and enlistment
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Candidates are to meet the following requirements:
GENERAL ELIGIBILITY/REQUIREMENT
- Must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth with no criminal record.
- Must have completed his/her National Service.
- Must be computer literate,
- Must be of a minimum age of 21 and not more than 35 years by 31st December 2021.
- Must be physically and medically fit by the Prisons Service standard.
- Must not be bonded
- Must have a minimum height of 1.67 meters (5ft 6inches) for Males, and 1.57 meters (5ft 2inches) for females.
- Must have an active e-mail account and for mobile phone number.
- Be ready to undergo paramilitary Training and other physical training.
- Medical professionals must have completed one-year post housemanship with a registered hospital or clinic

RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS
In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must be:
a. ORDAINED MINISTER OR CHAPLAIN
Have at least a first degree in Theology. Be of good standing in a Christian denomination approved by any of the following bodies; the Ghana Catholic Secretariat, the Christian Council of Ghana, the Pentecostal Council of Ghana, or other recognized Christian Bodies.
b. IMAM
- Have at least a first degree in Islamic Studies with excellent knowledge of Arabic.
- Be of good standing in a Muslim denomination approved by any of the following bodies the Office of the National/ Regional Chief Imam, the office of the Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, or other similar nationally recognized Muslim bodies.
NOTE:
For the Senior officer’s category apart from Medical Doctors, Dental Surgeon, Pharmacist with (Pharm D) and Legal officers as indicated in serial 5 & 6 that will be placed on the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Prisons (DSP), all other graduates shall start from Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP) after completion of training.
