Golder is looking for a Geological Engineer to join our Africa tailings team in our office in Nouakchott, Mauritania . You will have the opportunity to work within a regional team on mining, civil and geotechnical projects.

 

An overview of your role will include:

  • Work within our tailings team on civil and geotechnical engineering projects for the mining industry with opportunities to work on projects in other industries

  • Perform engineering tasks such as:
    • Characterization of sites and materials
    • Facility design including leveling, storage capacity, and construction quantity ratings
    • Complete geotechnical investigations, including supervision of test holes, drilling and logging
  • Participation in the drafting of technical reports in English that document field and laboratory investigations and construction quality assurance
  • Assist and perform technical analyzes under the direction and direction of senior management from Golder's Ghana and Denver offices
  • Perform national and international field missions, such as geotechnical surveys and construction supervision
  • Provide administrative support to Golder to meet any Mauritania branch office requirements that may arise

 

To be successful in this position, the candidate must have the following skills

  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geology or an equivalent field of study
  • Speaks English fluently
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to perform technical calculations and analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Ability to work in a remote environment
  • Participate and promote a culture of safety first
