Field Officers
Ghana shall be organising its decennial Population and Housing Census (PHC) in the year 2020, which is the most extensive field operationin its national data collection effort.The primary goal of the PHC is to count each person in the geographical space of Ghana. By so doing, every person’s characteristics would feed into the development planning process hence no one is left behind.

This means that substantial effort is needed to ensure that the wide-ranging activities of the census are well-coordinated, quality-assured,timely implemented and dispensed in an inclusive manner to involve the cooperation of all stakeholders, including public institutions at all levels, private sector operatives, community leaders, households and individuals in all regions and districts.Among the key actors in ensuring a successful conduct of the 2020 PHC is the Field Officers.

Trainers
In accordance with the objectives of Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) - provision of quality, relevant, accurate and timely statistical information for the purpose of national development -,as stipulated in Clause 3 of the Statistical Service Act, 2019 (Act 1003), and oversight of capacity building in the statistical ecosystem, GSS routinely engages data collection personnel in the discharge of its duties. The engagement of field staff is preceded by trainings aimed at
equipping trainees with the knowledge, understanding and application of the instruments for data collection.

Due to the recurrence of this activity in the conduct of national censuses and surveys, GSS has resolved to certify trainers to engender the following: continuous learning, retraining and coaching; a three-way (GSS, field staff and respondents) trust building; equitable distribution of trainers across localities and enumeration areas; creation of a a pool of trainers to be used by all data collection institutions; and institute a career development path for trainers.
Directors
The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) seeks to recruit experienced persons to the positions of Director of Regional Statistical Offices, Director of Coordination & Programme Management and Director of Communication and Dissemination to provide leadership, technical and operational direction in the dispensation of the mandate of the Service. The post holders are members of the Senior Management Team of GSS and work directly under the Deputy Government Statisticians in charge of Operations and General Services.
