Tamale Teaching Hospital is an agency of the Ministry of Health, mandated to provide tertiary health care services, serves as teaching facility for the school of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University for Development Studies and to undertake relevant research for health development. The Board of the hospital is seeking for qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position: Director of Medical Affairs
Job Purpose
Provide direction and advice in the efficient management and delivery of quality clinical care services, teaching, research and development within the Tamale Teaching Hospital
Functions
- Lead in the development of clinical care policies, guidelines, protocols and standards
- Take a proactive role in the development and implementation of clinical services in the hospital in accordance with National Policy
- Take lead role in ensuring that high clinical standards are met in the provision of specialist medical services

- Take lead role in developing and maintaining skills and knowledge in the specialist fields through an agreed CPD plan in line with the outcome of the annual appraisal process
- Lead and contribute to clinical supervision and promote the conduct of clinical research and development using evidence-based approach
- Manage and motivate clinical staff
- Undertake any other responsibility assigned by the Chief Executive
Qualification Required & Experience
The person must be a specialist any of the Medical Discipline and have the following:
- Postgraduate qualification in Medical or Surgical discipline (Fellowship) with at least the grade of Senior Specialist
- A minimum of 10 years work experience in Medical practice, 5 of which must be at the senior management level
- Member of relevant and recognised professional body
- Evidence of leadership and continuing professional development and training in health management
- Knowledge in coordinating and implementing research and development programmes
