Full Job Description - Read Carefully
A reputable private hospital located in Sunyani, Bono Region is looking to hire a Midwife/Matron for full-term work.
- Examining and monitoring pregnant women
- Assessing care requirements and writing care plans
- Carrying out screening tests
- Providing information, emotional support and reassurance to women and their partners
- Taking patient samples, pulses, temperatures and blood pressures
- Caring for and assisting women in labour
- Monitoring and administering medication, injections and intravenous infusions during labour
- Monitoring the foetus during labour
- Advising about and supporting parents in the daily care of their newborn babies
- Helping parents to cope with miscarriage, termination, stillbirth and neonatal death

- Writing records
- Tutoring student midwives/nurses
- Identifying high-risk pregnancies
- Deliver babies and provide antenatal and postnatal advice, care and support to women, their babies, their partners and families.
- Monitoring and examining pregnant women and making necessary referral
- Managing labour, conducting deliveries and immediate care of the newborn;
- Giving support and advice on the daily care of the baby, including breastfeeding, Bathing and making up feeds
- Conversant with modern equipment to aid in conducting delivery safely
- Organising antenatal clinic for clients
- May perform other related duties such as nursing
- Keeping accurate records of activities to meet Ghana Health Service standards
- Effectively communicating to clients and their relatives
Qualification and Requirements
- A minimum of a Diploma (Degree Nurse with diploma in midwifery is a plus)
- 5 -10 years experience is required, at least 3 years should be in Supervisory position
- Registered with nursing and midwifery council and of good Standing.
- Might have supervised midwives/nurses before in a reputable health facility
- Able to perform and supervise basic nursing functions
- Previous working experience in a private health facility is an added Advantage
- Being a retired midwife is an added advantage
