Since January 2020, GFA drives a GIZ financed project in Ghana. The objective of this project is to improve the prerequisites for the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions by large private sector electricity consumers and electricity utilities.
The outputs, at the end of the project should be the following:
- Relevant public institutions in the energy sector and RE/EE companies (engineering companies, project developers, installers, maintenance companies) have improved instruments and capacities for market development of RE and EE.

- Large private electricity consumers have improved capacity to plan RE and/or EE investments.
- Public utilities avail of strategic business opportunities to respond to their customers growing options for generating their own electricity from RE and improving their EE.
Job description
To run this project, we are looking for our new Technical Expert 2: Industrial Energy Efficiency Expert (Replacement) whose outputs and main tasks will be the following:
- Develop a concept of a sectorial program for EE
- Specific responsibility to implement activities related to energy efficiency project development by commercial and industrial (C & I) electricity consumers
- Drafting and reviewing tender documents
- Reviewing and providing technical support on EE proposals submitted to C & I consumers
- Running EE tendering, procurement and project development training workshops for C & I consumers as well as service providers
- Developing a marketing strategy and setting-up EE services within AGI (New energy center)
- Support the establishment of Energy Efficiency Network (EEN) platform where C & I consumers exchange EE experiences and practices
- Developing a database to track EE service providers and their portfolio
- Strategy, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of capacity development measures for local partners and EE service providers
- Providing legal and technical advice to public utilities for the development of RE/EE business strategy Supporting the GIZ programme manager in updating/adapting the project strategy
- Maintaining close contact to other donors in the sector and liaising with local partner organization to streamline interventions in the field of EE investment and solutions

Qualifications
To be eligible to this position, applicants will have to demonstrate the following qualifications:
- University qualification (Master or equivalent degree) in Engineering, Energy, Environment and/or Economics
- Excellent business language skills in English
- 15 years of professional experience in the energy sector
- 10 years in industrial energy efficiency (e.g. in process integration, CHP, demand response, etc.) and the development/delivery of trainings
- 5 years of Leadership/Management experience
- 5 years of experience in projects in Africa, of which 1 year in projects in West Africa
- 6 years of experience in Development Cooperation projects
