The Regional Office for Africa, RAF, is responsible for leading FAO’s response to regional priorities for food security, agriculture and rural development through the identification, planning, and implementation of FAO’s priority activities in the Region. It ensures a multidisciplinary approach to programmes, identifies priority areas of action for the Organization in the Region and, in collaboration with departments and divisions at headquarters, develops, promotes and oversees FAO's strategic response to regional priorities.
The RAF Human Resources Unit facilitates the implementation of FAO human resources policies, procedures and services in RAF. It advises senior management on appropriate measures and strategies to ensure that FAO decentralised offices in sub-Saharan Africa attract, develop and retain a diverse, skilled and highly motivated workforce. The RAF HR Unit works in close coordination with the Office of Human Resources (OHR) and the Shared Service Centre (CSS) to ensure consistency, quality, compliance, efficiency and effectiveness in all HR-related activities, from hiring through to separation.
FAO Subscribers to Personal Services Agreements (PSAs)
The Organization frequently engages individuals to perform task-based assignments for which FAO has a temporary need. PSAs are neither staff members nor officials of the Organization, but rather are employed as independent, external contractors. Assignments are specific regarding the objectives that need to be achieved and must be achievable within the time-frame of the proposed contract.
The objective of the VA is to attract talented individuals with experience and background in teaching French as a foreign language. Candidates who are recommended for selection are available for consideration whenever relevant opportunities arise.
Reporting Lines
The language teacher reports to the Regional Human Resources Officer.

Tasks and responsibilities
- Teach group and/or individual language courses.
- Update and present a course syllabus for each course taught during the contract (group and individual).
- Send syllabus and lesson log to students after group courses in a timely manner.
- Update and correct the end of session test for each student.
- Provide student’s progress report (next level, pass/fail and comments) at the end of each group and/or individual class as well as an evaluation for the learner.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
- University degree in education, language or related area
- Five years of relevant experience in teaching French in an international environment
- Working knowledge of French and intermediate knowledge of English
- National of Ghana or legal resident with work permit.

- Proven experience as a team player with sensitivity in dealing with different nationalities and cultural backgrounds
