A reputable company is searching for a Claims Manager for an immediate employment in Accra.

Job Description

  • Responsible for the implementation of the Company's Claims Philosophy and follow the Corporate’s Claims strategy.
  • Lead by example and promote the claim’s strategy, feeding into and complimenting the corporate culture.
  • Monitor and control the internal cost of running the claims unit by giving consideration to the outsourcing;
  • Monitor the cost of claims that is the total amount of claims indemnity payments, the expenses associated with making those payments (such as legal and loss adjuster’s fees) and the speed of payments and recoveries.
  • Investigate, evaluate and settle claims, applying technical knowledge and human relations skills to effect fair and prompt disposal of cases and to contribute to a reduced loss ratio.
  • Tracks and assesses impact of large losses including making recommendations to modify underwriting guidelines/profile as needed.
  • Follow up with any and all issues related to the insurance claims and direct such issues to pertinent parties when necessary to have them resolved by those individuals.
  • Adjust reserves or provide reserve recommendations to ensure that reserve activities are consistent with corporate policies.
  • Pay and process claims within designated authority level

  • Examine claims investigated by insurance adjusters, further investigating questionable claims to determine whether to authorize payments.
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reporting such Paid and Outstanding Claims bordereaux and salvage management.

 

Required Skills or Experience

  • University degree in Insurance, Finance, Banking, or any other relevant field plus a professional qualification in Insurance.
  • A Master Degree in a related field is an added advantage
  • Professional Certification is highly preferred
  • Over 5 years’ experience in insurance claims management
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Outstanding analytical skills
