The National Teaching Council seeks to recruit Regional and District-level Teacher Portfolio Assessors.
Regional Assessors visit Districts to carry out the quality verification of Newly Qualified Teachers’ (NQTs) portfolios which are initially assessed/evaluated by the mentors/lead mentors at the schools and moderated by the District-level Assessors.
The Regional Assessor will verify the District Assessors’ evaluations of NQTs’ portfolios in line with the agreed evaluation criteria and National Teaching Councils’ Teachers’ Standards. Each Regional Assessor will verify an assigned number of District samples.
Required Skills or Experience
Qualifications
Prospective applicants applying from Teacher Training Institutions must:
- Possess a minimum of a Master’s degree In Education or a Master’s degree in training subject area and a certificate in Post-Graduate Diploma in Education,
- Be at the position of either a Tutor or a Lecturer
- Have worked as a Supervisor in a school, a Head of Department or a member of school management for a minimum of 2 years in a recognised educational institution.
- Be at least assistant examiner for the past two years

- Demonstrate knowledge of, and experience in the National Teachers’ Standards and, Curriculum design and implementation
- Have extensive knowledge of supported teaching.
- Be desirous to be Certified as Teacher Educator and a facilitator,
- Demonstrate adequate knowledge of teacher licensing and professional development
Prospective applicants applying from Ghana Education Service and Parallel lnstitutions must:
- Possess a minimum of first degree in Education or a first degree in teaching subject(s) and a certificate in education preferably, PGDE from a recognised Institution.
- Be at the rank of Deputy Director for a mimmum of three years.
- Demonstrate a good knowledge of mentoring and Coaching.
- Have assessment experience (at least WAEC Team Leader/examiner with 5 years of experience or 5 years of Team Leader for teacher education qualification examinations e.g. Post Sec Cert., Diploma in Basic Education, B.Ed. Primary Education)
- Demonstrate adequate knowledge of the National Teachers’ Standards and Educational policies at the Pre-Tertiary level
- Possess relevant skill-set to train others with a minimum of 5 years in-service training for teachers or leading/facilitating training in similar capacity. Having occupied the position of DTOs or Assistant Director Supervision or Circuit Supervisors or Head of Institution is added advantage.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in delivering and assessing vocational qualifications such as City and Guilds, NVTI Qualifications and COTVET Qualifications.
- Be desirous to be licensed as a professional teacher and,
- Demonstrate adequate knowledge of teacher licensing and professional development
Applicants who are not in active service must:
- Have a minimum qualification of Bachelor’s degree in education or a first degree in a teaching subject and a Certificate in Post-Graduate Diploma in Education
- Have retired at the rank of Deputy Director or Snr. Lecturer position
- Demonstrate a good Knowledge of Mentoring and Coaching
- Demonstrate adequate knowledge of classroom assessment
