The Regional Advisory Information and Network Systems (RAINS) is a Non-governmental organization delivering development interventions in a number of areas in Northern Ghana. RAINS works to improve the quality of life particularly for the Children, Youth, Women and Girls. Over the years we have contributed to ensuring that more children especially girls and young people in Northern Ghana have had access to education and employable skills and protected from exploitation.

Job Description

Background

RAINS is seeking self motivated individuals to join our team to implement its component of a consortium project titled ‘Pathways for Sustainable Employment’ (PASEWAY) led by Plan International Ghana and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project will provide innovative and job readiness skills necessary to create employment opportunities for youth (15-35 years) in the construction sector.

Summary of Position

The Centre Trainer is responsible for providing ongoing training and support and facilitation of support in entrepreneurship and soft skills for young persons. She/He will also collaborate with external providers of technical training and Mentors to ensure that their training plans are suitable for the participants in accordance with the agreements with partners and donors.

 

 Key Responsibilities

  • Support to ensure the readiness of the Skills Centre/Hub at all times for Trainers and Coaches to hold sessions with Youth entrepreneurs.
  • Participate in mobilizing and screening processes to select youth as the project beneficiaries.
  • In collaboration with the Project Coordinator ensure the availability of all required materials and equipment to support training and coaching sessions
  • Skills Centre Trainer will provide entrepreneurial support and soft skills training at the Skills Hub or Skills Centre/Hub.
  • She/He will conduct coaching and information sessions for the young people and support the process of evaluation of the general quality and performance of training.
  • Ensure that training programmes are implemented for target youth in Construction in collaboration with Business Advisory Centres (National Board for small scale industries)
  • Ensure the payments of transportation stipend to youth beneficiaries and submit reconciliations to the Accountant.
  • Collect and submit weekly and monthly participant attendance figures for each training class at the project Skills Centre.
  • Collect and update regularly attendance figures into the project database

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies/Building Technology and other relevant academic background.
  • At least 3 years working experience especially in youth development and entrepreneurship
  • Experience in management records and database
  • Strong knowledge of the construction sector of Ghana and Youth
  • Significant technical experience in youth empowerment, entrepreneurship or other relevant fields strongly desired.
