Director of Finance - Tamale Technical University

Tamale Technical University came into being with the passing of the technical Universities (Amendment) Act, 2018 (Act 974) by the Parliament of Ghana and assented by the President on 24th August, 2018.

Following this, positions of Key Officers were established to manage the affairs of the University In view of the above, the Governing Council of the University wishes to invite applications from suitabty qualified Ghanaians who are goal-oriented and results-driven with good leadership qualities for appointments into the underlisted positions

DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

The Director of Finance is responsible to the Vice Chancellor of the University.

The Position/Job Description

The Director of Finance shall be

• The Chief Accounts Officer of the University and the Chief Financial Advisor to the Vice•Chancel,
• responsible for the administration of the financial affairs of the University that shall ensure its financial health and shall exercise direct superintendence overall accounts officers,

• responsible for collecting all legitimate revenue due the University
• in control of expenditure in line with the University's objectives and budgets,
• responsible for the preparing the annual budget of the University for presentation to the appropriate govern, body for approval and implementation.

• responsible for ensuring that the financial statements of the University are drawn up in accordance with Technical University Act 2016, Act922. the Harmonised Statutes, applicable accounting standards and all other Regulations approved by the University as well as all other relevant nat.nal laws and regulations;
• responsible for the preparation of the annual operating budget of the University and shall present same through the Vice-Chancellor to Council for approval,
• Responsible for ensuring, on behalf of Council, that proper records are kept of Al University property. stocks and valuables of all funds in a register,
• Responsible for liaising with the appointed external auditors to get the University's financial statements audited
• Required to perform any other official functions assigned by the Vice-Chancellor of the University

Terms of Appointment

• The Director of Finance shall hotel office for an initial term of four (4) years The appointment may be renewed for another four (4) years upon application for another term only or part thereof if that is not beyond the statutory retirement age of sixty (60)
• The terms and conditions of the appointment shall be determined by the Governing Council of the University, consistent with the Technical Universities Act, 2016 (Act 922) as amended, Statutes and Scheme of Service of Staff of the Tamale Technical University.

Academic Background Skills and Experience in Educational Administration

• Applicant must be a Chartered Accountant and hold a Masters degree in the relevant field
• Applicant must have served as a Deputy Director of Finance in a University or comparable grade in a similar institution/organisation for at least six (6) years
• Applicant must be computer literate and be conversant with accounting software applications
