AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine Cautions On Recruitment Scam

Scam / Fraud

AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited  wishes to inform the general public that it has come to its notice that some parties and/or individuals, unrelated to the Company, have been using names of several people who are related to the company in one way or the other to extort monies from the unsuspecting public under the pretext of securing jobs for them at the company.

The company had previously put out several announcements regarding the activities of fraudsters who have been posting online job vacancies in the name of the Company.

These individuals and/or companies write to unsuspecting job seekers either on a fraudulently designed AngloGold Ashanti letterhead or the letterhead of other "intermediary" organisations (local and/or international).

These job vacancies are false and those involved have not been contracted to recruit on behalf of AngloGold Ashanti. As AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is seeking to commence full Production, there is the likelihood of the resurgence of such activities. AngloGold Ashanti would want to establish that all job opportunities in the Company and its subsidiaries will be published on the Careers Page of the Company's official website www.anglogoldashanti.com/company/careers and through print media outlets.

Members of the public who wish to verify the authenticity of job vacancy advertisements are encouraged to contact telephone numbers +233302743400-1 to verify.

Please take further note that AngloGold Ashanti will never request payment of any fees as part of its recruitment process. If any member of the public has fallen victim to this scam, please report to the Police. The Company has reported this to the appropriate authorities and is working with them to bring the Perpetrators to book.

About AngloGold Ashanti

AngloGold Ashanti is the third-largest gold mining company in the world, measured by production. As of 31st December, 2018, our portfolio of 14 operations in nine countries includes long life, relatively low-cost operating assets with differing ore body types, located in key gold-producing regions around the world. These operating assets are supported by three greenfields projects in a tenth country and a focused global exploration programme. Our operations and greenfields projects are grouped into the following regions: Continental Africa, Americas, Australasia and South Africa.

Our business activities span the full spectrum of the mining value chain — from exploration through mining to the production of refined gold and its sale. Our activities also include mitigating our impact on the communities and environments in which we operate.

To maintain and strengthen our social capital, we aim to create sustainable value for shareholders, employees and social and business partners through safe and responsible mining and discipline in the allocation of capital.

AngloGold Ashanti has two operations in Ghana, being Obuasi and Iduapriem Mines. Each of the Mines is a wholly owned subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti.
