Job Summary

Responsible for providing strategic leadership, governance, and operational excellence for the organization’s technology platforms. The role ensures availability, resilience, security, performance, and continuous improvement of enterprise platforms supporting all business services. Lead Platform Engineering, DevOps, Database Administration, Middleware, Automation, Platform Monitoring, and Operational Readiness while driving platform modernization, infrastructure automation, operational efficiency, and service reliability.

The role holder acts as the operational custodian for strategic enterprise platforms, ensuring they meet business expectations for stability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities/Tasks

Platform Operations Leadership

• Develop and execute the enterprise platform operations strategy.
• Lead all operational activities relating to enterprise platforms.
• Drive continuous improvement across platform operations.
• Build a highly reliable, scalable and resilient technology ecosystem.
• Management of API platform (APIGEE/MADAPI, Enterprise Service Framework, etc)

DevOps & Platform Engineering

• Lead the DevOps organisation responsible for modern software delivery and platform automation.
• Build and mature DevOps capabilities, Define CI/CD standards across the organisation, standardise deployment pipelines, Implement Infrastructure as Code (Isac), Champion GitOps practices, Drive Platform Engineering initiatives, Reduce deployment lead times, Increase release frequency, Improve deployment success rates, Eliminate manual operational activities through automation.

Database Administration

• Provide strategic leadership for all enterprise database platforms.
• Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Etc
• Ensure High Availability, Replication, Clustering, Backup & Recovery, Disaster Recovery, Capacity Planning, Database Performance Tuning, Database Security, Database Lifecycle Management, Database Monitoring, Patch Management, Drive database automation wherever possible.

Platform Availability & Reliability

• Ensure all platforms consistently meet availability targets.
• Lead initiatives around: High Availability, Resilience, Redundancy, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, Capacity Management, Platform Health, Platform Optimisation with target platform uptime exceeding agreed organisational SLAs.

Monitoring, Observability & Automation

• Oversee Proactive Platform Monitoring, Application Performance Monitoring (APM), Log Analytics, Synthetic Monitoring, Event Correlation, Alerting, Self-Healing Automation, AI Operations (AIOps), Reduce Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Recover (MTTR).

Vendor & Financial Management

• Oversee Vendor Performance, SLA Governance, Contract Management, Platform Licensing, Capacity Forecasting, Budget Management, Cloud Cost Optimisation, Technology Procurement and drive operational cost efficiency without compromising service quality.

Operational Excellence

• Drive operational maturity by establishing Standard Operating Procedures, Operational Runbooks, Platform Standards, Engineering Standards, Automation Standards, Operational Reviews, Service Improvement Plans and lead continuous service improvement initiatives.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate closely with Software Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Cyber Security, Service Management, Product Owners, Business Units, Executive Leadership, Technology Vendors. Also ensure platform capabilities align with business priorities and technology roadmaps.
  
  

Qualifications Required & Experience

Education

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Software Engineering or its equivalent
• Professional certifications in Databases, DevOps, Systems Administration, Platform Engineering, Software Engineering and other relevant IT domains
• Agile certification is a plus
• MBA / MSc degree (IT, Software Engineering, Computer Science) is a plus.

Experience

• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in enterprise IT operations, infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud operations.
• At least 5 years leading large, multidisciplinary technical teams in a managerial role.
• Proven experience managing enterprise platforms supporting mission-critical business services.
• Experience leading DevOps transformation and CI/CD implementation.
• Strong background in database administration and operational governance.
• Experience in cloud operations (Azure and/or AWS) and hybrid infrastructure.
• Experience in telecoms/regulated environments and multi?stakeholder delivery models a plus.
