Role:

Reporting to the SBS Manager, Ghana & Francophone Countries

The General Ledger & Accounts Payable lead is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely recording, reporting, and reconciliation of the organization's financial transactions in Ghana and Senegal in line with company policies, while efficiently managing vendor and employee payments, strengthening supplier relationships, and driving cost-effective practices that support financial integrity and business performance across both markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and submission of Annual Financial Statements in line with statutory and group requirements.
  • Perform monthly and annual CIT (Corporate Income Tax) and Deferred Tax computations and filings.
  • Manage Transfer Pricing workings and ensure annual documentation is submitted in compliance with local regulations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely completion of Customs, Group, and Statutory audits.
  • Lead review of Balance Sheet analysis, Profit & Loss (P&L) accounts, and Trial Balance (TB) reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Review and submit the financials and group reporting packages in accordance with corporate timelines.
  • Oversee Payroll files reviews, postings, and HR-related provisions including STI, incentives, leave accruals, etc.
  • Ensure accurate review and posting of prepayments and manage the Fixed Asset Register (FAR) and depreciation schedules.
  • Lead the management of staff loan and advance schedules, ensuring timely reconciliations and reporting.
  • Review and validate P&L and Balance Sheet files from other Business Units, and provide feedback to improve reporting quality.
  • Ensure submission of tax payment details for all GB African entities to Corporate Finance.
  • Lead and respond to other financial requests from management and corporate stakeholders.
  • All the above responsibilities are carried out across Ghana and Senegal BUs, ensuring consistency in financial governance and compliance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in financial management or similar role.
  • Proven track record of managing finance across multi-country operations, preferably within West Africa.
  • Deep expertise in IFRS, tax regulations, transfer pricing, and group reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP or equivalent ERP systems.
  • Must be a strong team player, highly motivated and able to work under pressure during peak periods.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage deadlines, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with both internal stakeholders and external auditors.
  • Strong multitasking, project prioritisation, and attention to detail.
  • Client and consumer oriented
  • Has strong planning, team playing and organizational skills.
  • Creative, adaptable, and results-oriented, with strong analytical capabilities, initiative, and a high sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to speak French an added advantage.
