IDL Africa Technologies is a leading provider of industrial automation, process control, and digital industrial solutions across West and Central Africa. We help manufacturers, utilities, energy companies, and industrial enterprises improve operational efficiency, safety, reliability, and productivity through innovative technologies and world-class engineering solutions.

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically competent Technical Sales Engineer – Industrial Solutions to drive business growth by providing consultative sales and engineering support to customers across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new business opportunities and grow existing accounts within the industrial sector.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, industrial plants, utilities, EPC contractors, system integrators, consultants, and government agencies.
  • Understand customer operational challenges and recommend appropriate industrial automation and control solutions.
  • Promote and sell industrial solutions including:
  • Industrial Automation Systems
  • PLC, SCADA and HMI Solutions
  • Process Instrumentation
  • Industrial Control Systems
  • Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
  • Building & Industrial Safety Systems
  • Gas Detection and Fire & Gas Systems
  • Industrial Networking and IIoT Solutions
  • Process Optimization and Digitalization Solutions
  • Conduct customer site visits, technical surveys, and solution assessments.
  • Prepare technical proposals, system architectures, quotations, and tender documentation.
  • Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and solution workshops.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project delivery teams to ensure successful implementation of customer projects.
  • Provide technical support throughout the sales cycle, from opportunity identification to project commissioning.
  • Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and achieve assigned revenue and profitability targets.
  • Monitor market trends, industry developments, and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities.
  • Represent IDL Africa Technologies at industry events, exhibitions, and customer engagements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in technical sales or business development within industrial automation, process control, or industrial engineering.

Strong technical knowledge of:

  • Industrial Automation
  • PLC, SCADA, DCS and HMI Systems
  • Process Instrumentation
  • Industrial Communication Networks
  • Electrical Control Systems
  • Industrial Safety Systems
  • Fire & Gas Detection Systems
  • Industrial IoT (IIoT)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, control architectures, and technical specifications.
  • Experience preparing technical proposals, tenders, and commercial quotations.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong customer relationship management and consultative selling skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across West and Central Africa.
