JOB SUMMARY

The Operations Manager will be responsible for supervising the bank's day-to-day operations, including teller functions, customer service, clearing, cash management, account administration, and compliance with operational policies. The role ensures that all branches operate smoothly, risks are minimized, and service delivery meets the bank’s standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Oversight

  • Supervise and coordinate daily branch operations across all locations, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Manage cash holdings, vault operations, and liquidity in line with Bank of Ghana requirements.
  • Oversee cheque clearing, funds transfers, standing orders, and automated payment systems.

Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure strict compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and other regulatory directives.
  • Monitor transaction processing to prevent fraud, errors, and operational losses.
  • Conduct regular internal control checks and surprise cash/custody counts.

Process Improvement

  • Identify operational bottlenecks and recommend system enhancements.
  • Implement and monitor service level agreements (SLAs) for customer transactions

Team Supervision

  • Lead and train operations staff (tellers, customer service officers, etc) across branches.

Reporting

  • Prepare weekly, and monthly operational reports for management.
  • Liaise with the Branch Manager and Head of Finance on reconciliation issues.

Required Skills or Experience

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Banking & Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CIB Ghana, ACCA, CPA, or Diploma in Banking) is highly desirable.
  • At least 2 years of banking experience, with a minimum of a year in an operations or supervisory role, preferably in a community or rural bank.
  • Proven knowledge of core banking applications (T24).
  • Strong understanding of Bank of Ghana’s operational and prudential guidelines for rural/community banks.
