Job Summary

The Warehouse Officer is responsible for the day-to-day physical handling of auto parts within the warehouse. This includes receiving incoming shipments, accurately counting and storing parts, picking and packing orders for delivery, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment. The role also supports monthly inventory checks and requires a careful, honest, and pressure-resilient individual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming auto parts shipments from local suppliers or the central procurement team.
  • Unload, verify, and physically count all items against delivery notes or purchase orders.
  • Inspect parts for visible damage (e.g., dents, rust, missing components) and report discrepancies immediately.
  • Store parts in designated bin locations systematically (e.g., by part number, vehicle model, or size) to enable quick retrieval.
  • Pick parts accurately from storage locations based on picking slips or work orders from the service center, sales team, or external customers.
  • Pack parts securely to prevent damage during transit (e.g., using bubble wrap, boxes, or crates).
  • Prepare delivery documents (waybills, packing lists) and coordinate dispatch with drivers or couriers.
  • Keep warehouse floors, shelves, and aisles clean, swept, and free of obstructions daily.
  • Organize tools, packing materials, and equipment in designated areas.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed: no stacking unstable loads, proper use of ladders, clear fire exits, and correct handling of heavy or hazardous parts (e.g., batteries, oils).
  • Report any safety hazards (spilled oil, broken pallets, faulty lighting) to the supervisor immediately.
  • Assist in monthly physical inventory checks – count designated sections or part categories as assigned.
  • Report count discrepancies (shortages, overages, damaged stock) to the Auto Parts & Inventory Manager.
  • Help reconcile physical counts with system records when required.
  • Follow all warehouse standard operating procedures.
  • Use basic warehouse equipment (hand pallet jack, trolley, weighing scale) safely.
  • Cooperate with the parts manager and other team members during urgent or high-volume periods.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualification

  • WASSCE or HND in any field. Experience in warehouse work is preferred (auto parts, logistics, or general storekeeping).
  • Candidates without experience but with the right attitude may be considered for training.
  • Careful – pays close attention to part numbers and quantities; avoids mix-ups.
  • Responsible – takes ownership of assigned tasks and follows through.
  • Able to work neatly – keeps shelves orderly, labels facing front, no scattered items.
  • Honest – does not conceal errors or mishandle company property.
  • Reliable – shows up on time, completes shifts, and can be trusted with valuable inventory.
  • Able to work under pressure – handles high-volume days (e.g., end of month, special promotions) without losing accuracy
