MSIG complements the Ministry of Health by providing quality, affordable general health and SRH services across all regions of Ghana.

ROLE

The Centre Locum Midwife is responsible for delivering high-quality, client-centered sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, including family planning, maternal care, safe abortion and post-abortion care, and other core and non-core services in line with MSIG’s standards and Ghana Health Service (GHS) protocols.

The role supports the Centre Manager in ensuring efficient delivery service, client satisfaction, compliance with clinical standards, and achievement of service delivery targets. The Centre Locum Midwife also contributes to demand generation, accurate documentation, and maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for clients.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Service Delivery

  • Provide comprehensive SRH and non-core clinical services in line with approved clinical standards and protocols.
  • Offer counseling, informed consent, and respectful care to all clients.
  • Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) standards and clinical quality protocols.
  • Deliver quality maternal health, family planning, safe abortion, and post-abortion care services where permitted.
  • Promote cross-selling of relevant MSIG services to clients.

Client Care & Engagement

  • Ensure privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and respectful treatment for all clients.
  • Address client concerns and complaints promptly and escalate unresolved issues to the Centre Manager.
  • Participate in demand generation, outreach, and health promotion activities to increase service uptake.
  • Promote excellent client experience and client-centered care standards.

Data & Record Management

  • Accurately document client information and service data in the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
  • Maintain accurate service statistics, incident reports, and stock records.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of clinical activities and incidents.
  • Support effective use of the client feedback system to improve service quality.

Teamwork & Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Centre Manager and other team members to deliver integrated total women’s healthcare services.
  • Support onboarding, mentoring, and coaching of junior staff and locums where necessary.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development activities.

Resource Management Support

  • Ensure rational use of clinical supplies, equipment, and consumables.
  • Promptly report stock shortages, damages, or equipment faults to the Centre Manager.
  • Support inventory management and periodic stock audits.
  • Ensure compliance with MSIG safeguarding, financial, data protection, and administrative policies.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Recognized qualification in Midwifery from an accredited institution.
  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana and in good standing.
  • Minimum of three (3) years post-qualification experience in SRH service delivery or a reputable health facility.
  • Strong knowledge of SRH service delivery, infection prevention, and clinical quality standards.
  • Excellent communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer-literate with good documentation and reporting skills.
  • Must be compassionate, client-focused, proactive, and committed to quality healthcare delivery.
