This is a full-time on-site role for a Workshop Electrician located in Accra. The Workshop Electrician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the electrical systems of a variety of vehicles. This role requires excellent technical knowledge, diagnostic skills, and a commitment to quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose electrical malfunctions on fleet vehicles.
  • Diagnose, repair, and replace faulty wiring, electrical components, alternators, starter motors, batteries, and lighting systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical issues related to engine management systems, anti-lock braking systems (ABS), and airbags.
  • Install new electrical and electronic components, such as alarms, immobilizers, tracking systems, in-car entertainment, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
  • Interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals accurately.
  • Maintain and service batteries, ensuring proper charging and performance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems to identify potential problems before they occur.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections of vehicle electrical systems.
  • Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding diagnostic findings and repair recommendations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Stay current with the latest automotive electrical technology and repair methods.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant trade qualification, certification or degree in Automotive Electrical Technology or related field is required
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of hands-on experience as a qualified auto-electrician
  • Valid driver's license
  • Expert knowledge of automotive electrical theory, components, and diagnostic tools.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Certification in air conditioning repair (ARC) is an added advantage
