Role Overview
The Electrical & Electronic Technician will be responsible for ensuring the continuous, reliable operation of all electrical and automated systems across Maamani’s facilities, including poultry houses, feedmill, soybean processing, and support infrastructure, as any electrical or system failure can result in significant bird mortality, production losses, and operational downtime.
The technician must therefore ensure zero unplanned downtime, rapid fault response, and proactive maintenance of all systems. The role works closely with the Facility Manager to ensure all equipment, automation systems, and utilities operate at optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Systems Management
- Install, maintain, and repair all electrical systems across:
- Poultry houses (layers, brooding units)
- Feedmill and processing plants
- Water systems and borehole pumps
- Offices and support infrastructure
- Ensure stable power supply to all critical operations
- Monitor and maintain:
- Distribution boards
- Circuit breakers and protection systems
- Wiring and cabling systems

2. Automation & Control Systems (Core Function)
- Maintain and troubleshoot automated systems used in poultry operations, including:
- Feeding systems
- Drinking systems
- Ventilation and climate control systems (fans, cooling pads)
- Lighting control systems
- Egg collection systems
- Ensure all control panels, sensors, and actuators are functioning correctly
- Monitor system performance and calibrate automation settings as required
3. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment
- Conduct routine inspections to identify potential faults before failure
- Maintain maintenance logs and equipment history
- Replace worn or faulty components proactively to avoid breakdowns
4. Emergency Response & Downtime Prevention
- Provide rapid response to electrical and system failures
- Troubleshoot faults and restore operations with minimal downtime
- Implement backup solutions during outages to protect:
- Ventilation systems
- Water supply
- Feeding operations
- Be available for on-call support, especially during critical production periods
5. Power Supply & Backup Systems
- Manage and maintain:
- Generators
- Automatic transfer switches (ATS)
- Solar systems (if installed)
- Ensure seamless switching between power sources
- Regularly test backup systems to guarantee reliability
6. Poultry House Critical Systems Oversight
- Ensure continuous operation of:
- Ventilation systems (critical to bird survival)
- Temperature and humidity control systems
- Lighting programs
- Monitor environmental control systems to prevent:
- Heat stress
- Oxygen depletion
- System failure leading to bird mortality
7. Feedmill & Processing Equipment Support
- Support electrical and automation systems in:
- Feedmill machinery
- Soybean processing equipment
- Ensure motors, conveyors, mixers, and control panels operate efficiently
- Troubleshoot electrical faults affecting production lines
8. Collaboration with Facility Manager
- Work closely with the Facility Manager to:
- Plan maintenance schedules
- Coordinate repairs and upgrades
- Ensure all infrastructure is operational
- Provide technical input on equipment procurement and upgrades
9. Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and regulations
- Maintain safe working practices to prevent accidents
- Ensure proper grounding, insulation, and system protection
- Train staff on basic electrical safety awareness
10. Spare Parts & Inventory Management
- Maintain inventory of critical spare parts
- Ensure availability of:
- Fuses, relays, sensors, motors, cables, etc.
- Recommend procurement of essential components to avoid delays11. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain records of:
- Maintenance activities
- System failures and resolutions
- Equipment performance
- Provide regular reports on:
- System reliability
- Downtime incidents
- Preventive maintenance status

Job Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field
- Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in
- Industrial electrical systems
- Automation and control systems
- Experience in:
- Poultry farms, feedmills, or manufacturing environments (preferred)
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting experience
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of:
- Electrical systems
- PLCs and control systems (advantage)
- Industrial automation
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergencies
- High level of attention to detail
- Strong sense of responsibility and accountability
Remuneration
Competitive and commensurate with experience
