Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd is a multi-pit mining complex located on the Asankrangwa Gold Belt, operating a 5.5Mtpa processing plant with expansion potential. The mine is owned by Galiano Gold Inc., a dual-listed (NYSE & TSX) mining company focused on responsible exploration, development, and operations.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced HR Officer to support workforce capability within the Organizational Capability Department. This role is critical to ensuring operational continuity, strengthening HR compliance, and enhancing workforce governance and risk management.

The successful candidate will proactively manage compliance risks, ensure audit readiness, and promote ethical employment practices, while maintaining alignment with labour laws and supporting sustainable organizational performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Make sure HR practices across the organization fully comply with labour laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Carry out regular HR compliance reviews for teams and Business Partners, share findings, and follow up to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Work closely with Business Partners to ensure they meet contractual, HR, and regulatory standards.
  • Build and manage a clear compliance tracking and reporting system, including logs and escalation processes.
  • Spot potential HR or contractual risks early, document them, and escalate to leadership when needed.
  • Support the rollout and ongoing improvement of the Human Rights Policy, including awareness sessions and training.
  • Help promote a culture where employees feel comfortable raising concerns and ensure grievances are handled effectively.
  • Visit teams regularly to strengthen compliance awareness and encourage early identification of issues.
  • Oversee background checks, reference verification, and due diligence for key hires and roles.
  • Prepare clear dashboards and reports on compliance, audits, and KPIs to support decision-making.
  • Support performance management compliance by ensuring proper setting of KPIs, appraisals, and documentation standards.
  • Provide practical guidance and training to supervisors and Business Partners on HR compliance and best practices.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure all regulatory reporting requirements are met.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the team and organization

Job Requirements

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in HR, with strong knowledge of labour laws, regulations, and statutory requirements, preferably within the mining industry.
  • Strong understanding of labour legislation, HR policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in handling grievances, disciplinary processes, and workplace investigations in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and escalate HR risks, while ensuring timely resolution of compliance issues.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office, with the ability to prepare clear dashboards and compliance reports.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, and business partners, and deliver training and guidance.
  • High ethical standards, with strong confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity in handling sensitive HR information and processes.
