Role Overview
This role is execution focused and operates under the direction of the DevOps / Cloud Security Lead. The DevOps Engineer will implement, operate, and support existing systems and approved changes.
Reporting Line
- Reports directly to: DevOps /Cloud Infrastructure Lead
- Works closely with: Backend Engineers, QA, Product, and Support team
Key Responsibilities
1. Cloud & Infrastructure Operations
- Operate and maintain existing AWS environments (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, Load Balancers) in line with approved designs.
- Execute infrastructure updates and configuration changes based on plans and approvals provided by the DevOps Manager.
- Support environment setup and maintenance across Development, UAT, and Production.
- Assist with access control updates, environment hardening tasks, and configuration reviews as directed.
- Document operational procedures and environment changes.

2. CI/CD & Deployment Support
- Execute and support day-to-day CI/CD pipeline operations using existing tools and standards.
- Monitor pipeline runs and troubleshoot build, test, and deployment failures.
- Apply approved improvements to pipeline reliability, performance, and automation.
- Support release activities and deployment coordination with engineering teams.
- Maintain CI/CD documentation and runbooks.
3. Monitoring, Reliability & Incident Support
- Monitor system health using existing monitoring and alerting tools.
- Respond to alerts and incidents, performing first-line technical investigation.
- Escalate systemic, architectural, or security-related issues to the DevOps Manager.
- Assist in post-incident root cause analysis and documentation.
- Support routine reliability checks and uptime improvement activities.
4. Security Implementation
- Implement security controls, patches, and fixes as defined and approved by the DevOps Manager.
- Remove hard-coded secrets and migrate them to approved secrets management tools.
- Apply secure configuration practices to infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
- Follow established PCI DSS and secure DevOps guidelines.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Solid Linux system administration skills.
- Hands-on experience operating AWS environments.
- Practical experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
- Basic understanding of:
- Application security concepts
- Secrets management
- Secure deployment practices
Experience Level
- 2–4 years of hands-on DevOps, Cloud, or Infrastructure experience.
- Experience supporting production systems in a regulated or high-availability environment is an advantage.
