The University seeks to appoint Assistant Registrars (Legal) to support the Director of Legal Services to provide effective legal and administrative support across the University.

Reports to: Director of Legal Services

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Registrar (Legal) provides legal, administrative, and operational support to the Legal Directorate. The role supports the Director of Legal Services in the delivery of effective legal services, documentation management, compliance support, and day-to-day legal administrative functions of the University.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the preparation, drafting, and review of contracts, agreements, correspondence, and internal legal documents.
  • Support the management of litigation and dispute resolution matters, including coordination with external legal practitioners and regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain and manage legal records, contract registers, case files, and statutory documentation.
  • Support compliance monitoring and assist in the preparation of reports and submissions required by regulatory and accreditation bodies.
  • Provide legal and administrative support to University Directorates, Faculties, and Units as assigned.
  • Perform other legal and administrative duties assigned by the Director of Legal Services in support of the Legal Directorate’s mandate.

Qualification Required & Experience

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree or a Bachelor’s degree in Law or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Qualification as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana, having successfully completed the Professional Law Course and enrolled with the General Legal Council.
  • A minimum of three (3) years relevant post-qualification experience in a legal, administrative, regulatory, or institutional work environment.
  • Prior experience in a university, public institution, or corporate organisation will be an advantage.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES & ATTRIBUTES

  • Good legal and administrative drafting skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional discretion.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and support senior officers.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
