Job Description

• Location: Cardinal Namdini Site, Bolgatanga 
• Section/ Unit: Energy 
• Department: Engineering & Projects 
• Job reports to: Manager – Engineering & Projects 
• Direct Reports:Lead Engineer – Electricals, Engineer – Electricals, Instrumentation/ Electrical Technicians & Contractors.

Job Purpose 

Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering provides mine-wide electrical engineering support for AC/DC electrical equipment including power generation, electrical distribution, drives, breakers, transformers, PLC controls and related.

• To solve Electrical Medium Voltage, Low Voltage and instrumentation specific design and construction execution problems and to ensure that the plant and infrastructure is built to design specifications.
• Analyzes current equipment; identifies areas of inefficiency and needs for improvement; designs and develops electrical and instrumentation system to meet those needs.
• Collaborates with engineers and supervisors to develop accurate, efficient, and cost effective electrical and instrumentation systems in accordance with safety and usability standards and client expectations.
• The candidate should have previous experience on maintenance in gold process plant, design and construction, commissioning, and decommissioning.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Become familiar with and strictly adhere to Namdini Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
• Assist EAIT manager in the development and implementation of procedures that ensure that Nandini’s safety and environmental standards are attained. Act as a role model in complying with and supporting these standards and practices.
• Develop policies, forms, rules, and Standard Operating Procedures in line with the Mining
• Regulations, Energy Commission standards and international standards best practices for the operation and maintenance of energy equipment.
• Manage the implementation of all Legal and Statutory requirements for energy supply, energy installation and energy equipment including monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections and tests.
• Manage energy supply authorities including power generation and transmissions services agreements, energy metering and supply interconnections.
• Review all energy engineering design plans, perform analysis and calculations, and supervise implementation of suggested solutions and improvement measures subject to manager’s approval.
• Prepare Scope of Work and develop Bill of Quantities for all energy projects and manage energy service contractors to ensure value for money.
• Assist in procuring all energy needs, critical spares, tools, and equipment, running spares including goods and services in line with company policy and other requirements.
• Liaise with Maintenance planning department to develop and implement equipment maintenance strategies and schedules.
• Conduct training needs analysis for Engineers and Technicians through performance appraisals to identify the gaps. Prepare internal training requirement and help implementation of both internal and external training requirements.
• Train, mentor and couch engineers and Technicians to reach higher heights.
• Perform any other related duties based on the exigencies of the Company as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

Minimum qualification (s)

• Recognized Degree / Diploma / equivalent in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
• Mincom Competency Certificate, minimum Sectional Engineer
• Energy commission certificate, industrial / inspector
• Member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers / Engineering council body 

Experience (Minimum)

• 10 years working experience in gold mineral processing;
• At least 5 years in a Senior Electrical /Instrumentation /Management role including largescale
• Fixed asset management experience 

Knowledge (In-depth)

• Ability to work in a team and always remain professional.
• Must possess an analytical mind and a high level in medium voltage and Low voltage installations.
• Must be knowledgeable in commissioning and decommissioning processes.
• Familiarity with project design concepts, procedures, and tools 

Skills

• Ability to make decisions under pressure and superb mindset in managing engineers and contractors.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong in medium voltage substation operations, maintenance and MCC controls.
• Strong in Variable speed drives, dual drives, motors, and controls gears.
• Strong in field instrumentation and control systems, with appreciable level on PLC and Scada systems
• Experience with CAD software and MS Office
