Position Overview

The Head Teacher serves as the chief academic and administrative leader of the school, responsible for setting the vision, shaping the culture, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning. The ideal candidate must have substantial experience managing a hybrid curriculum environment integrating both international and national education standards.

This role requires strategic leadership, strong managerial ability, exceptional communication skills, and a deep understanding of curriculum development, school operations, staff development, and student welfare.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategic and Academic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a clear academic vision aligned with international best practices.
  • Lead the full implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Oxford International Curriculum across all levels.
  • Coordinate integration of the Oxford curriculum with national curriculum requirements to ensure a seamless hybrid system.
  • Lead curriculum mapping, pacing guides, scope and sequence, and scheme of work development.
  • Ensure quality lesson planning and instructional delivery through regular supervision and pedagogical support.
  • Lead data-driven academic improvement—analysing assessment results, identifying learning gaps, and implementing interventions.
  • Champion the use of modern teaching methodologies, inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, and differentiated instruction.
  • Ensure assessment methods (formative, summative, diagnostic) meet Oxford International benchmarks.

2. School Operations & Administrative Management

  • Oversee day-to-day management of the school, ensuring all departments function effectively and efficiently.
  • Develop and enforce operational policies, SOPs, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Supervise administrative units including admissions, communication, records management, and facilities.
  • Ensure strict compliance with educational regulations, safety guidelines, and quality assurance standards.
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality, teacher workload, timetabling, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with finance personnel to plan budgets, manage expenditures, and optimize the use of school resources.
  • Ensure the campus environment is safe, clean, well-maintained, and conducive to learning.

3. Staff Recruitment, Development & Performance Management

  • Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and training of qualified teachers and support staff.
  • Conduct classroom observations, teacher appraisals, and developmental feedback sessions.
  • Implement professional development plans focusing on hybrid curriculum delivery, Oxford standards, classroom management, and assessment practices.
  • Build a high-performing staff culture rooted in professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Address performance gaps through coaching, mentoring, disciplinary procedures, or retraining.
  • Organise internal workshops, peer mentoring, and collaborative planning sessions.

4. Student Development, Wellbeing & Discipline

  • Ensure high standards of student behaviour, attendance, welfare, and pastoral care.
  • Lead programmes that support emotional intelligence, social skills, character building, and academic counselling.
  • Implement age-appropriate disciplinary structures that emphasise fairness, correction, and personal growth.
  • Oversee child protection and safeguarding protocols, ensuring staff are trained and comply with standards.
  • Promote inclusive education—supporting students with learning difficulties or special educational needs.

5. Parent & Community Engagement

  • Build strong, transparent communication channels with parents through meetings, newsletters, platforms, and open days.
  • Handle parent feedback, concerns, and conflicts with professionalism and sensitivity.
  • Represent the school in conferences, community events, and education-related engagements.
  • Build partnerships with educational bodies, training organisations, and curriculum providers (including Oxford International).
  • Promote the school’s achievements, culture, and values to foster trust and community involvement.

6. Monitoring, Reporting & Quality Assurance

  • Maintain accurate academic and administrative records in line with school policy.
  • Produce termly and annual academic reports showing progress, challenges, and improvement strategies.
  • Lead school-wide evaluations, self-assessments, audits, and quality assurance processes.
  • Implement continuous improvement plans aligned with school goals and accreditation guidelines.
  • Monitor teacher performance, student outcomes, and curriculum effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Mandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education; Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership/Administration is an advantage.
  • Minimum 7–10 years teaching experience, including at least 5 years in headship role
  • Strong background in managing or delivering a hybrid curriculum model (national + international).
  • In-depth understanding of contemporary educational practices, learner-centered pedagogy, and global standards.
