Tesla Electrical and Automation is a leading engineering firm providing specialized solutions in electrical systems, automation, instrumentation, and industrial maintenance services for the mining, manufacturing, and energy sectors in Ghana.

Job Description

As we expand our operations and strengthen our commercial function, we seek a highly skilled and experienced Commercial & Contracts Manager to join our team.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Commercial & Contracts Manager will oversee all commercial operations, contract management, procurement and supply chain activities within Tesla Electrical and Automation Ltd. The ideal candidate will ensure value for money, compliance with client and regulatory requirements, effective vendor management, and the commercial success of all operational projects.

The role requires a very good understanding of electrical engineering projects and construction in general with deep understanding of procurement, logistics, inventory management, contract management, budgeting, negotiation, and project support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Commercial Management

  • Develop, review, and implement commercial strategies to support business growth.
  • Prepare commercial proposals, quotations, and commercial submissions for tenders.
  • Lead negotiations with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Analyze contract risks and recommend mitigation measures.

Procurement & Supply Chain Management

  • Oversee procurement planning, vendor sourcing, evaluation, and selection.
  • Manage the end-to-end supply chain to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain supplier relationships and negotiate favourable terms.
  • Ensure adherence to procurement policies, ethical standards, and audit requirements.

Contract Management

  • Draft, review and manage contractual documents (service agreements, subcontractor contracts, supply contracts).
  • Ensure timely renewal, compliance, and close-out of all commercial contracts.
  • Maintain contract registers and oversee progress claims, variations, invoicing, and payments.
  • Monitor performance of ongoing contracts and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Construction contracts management including change management and quality management, notices and claims procedures, time, delays, extensions of time, damages and taking over, delay analysis, proving delay and technique selection.

Financial & Reporting Responsibilities

  • Support budgeting and cost-control activities for projects and operations.
  • Conduct commercial analysis and prepare periodic reports for management.
  • Track expenditures and ensure cost-optimised procurement strategies.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Professional certification in Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, or Contract Management (e.g., CIPS, CSCP, FIDIC, CPCM, PMP, or related).
  • 7–10 years of experience in commercial management, procurement, supply chain, or contracts administration—preferably within engineering, mining, construction, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, technical procurement, and engineering commercial processes.
  • Proven negotiation, project coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and reporting abilities.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to ethical business conduct.
