JOB PURPOSE
The Manager of Unix/Linux and Storage Systems Operations is responsible for leading the operations team and serving as the primary escalation point for all technical issues related to Linux, Cloud, and Storage platforms. The role requires close collaboration with the Engineering team and other stakeholders in the design, deployment, and maintenance of high-performance, low-latency enterprise platforms, while establishing clear operational priorities.
The ideal candidate must have a deep technical background with an automation mindset. He/she must have the drive to motivate the team, show leadership skills, be committed to excellence, and be dedicated to owning complex projects and problems with minimal supervision.
The responsibilities associated with this role include:
- Lead the Unix & Storage operations team.
- Own and participate in the management of the systems infrastructure and platforms.
- Establish and maintain operational processes and procedures related to running the environments.
- Be responsible for incident reports, follow-ups, and root cause analysis.
- Mentor and set priorities for a highly skilled team Unix and Storage team.
- Engage in vendor management interactions pertaining to support issues and technical roadmaps.
- Additional responsibilities include developing and implementing procedures for Information lifecycle management, Virtualization strategy, and tools to manage performance, availability, and capacity.

Experience
- Experience working in Unix/Cloud Operation role in a managerial capacity.
- years’ experience in a computer-related field, including four years as a systems administrator.
- or 5 years of Unix System Administration experience in a production, 24/7 environment
- Expert with storage sizing, performance and high availability.
- Experience supporting IBM Power systems / IBM AIX operating system.
- Knowledge of IBM/AIX/Hitachi storage concepts and administration
- Experience with Hardware Management Console (HMC) and logical partitioning
- Experience with RedHat Linux operating system
- Experience working with public cloud environments like AWS, Azure, GCP and IBM cloud
- Experience with containerization/ orchestration platforms like Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet or Chef
- Knowledge of network TCP/IP networking
- Proven experience in monitoring, supporting and managing complex systems.
- Understanding of clustering and other high availability/fault tolerance technologies
- High level of proficiency in documentation and report writing of technical and other information, with MS Office Suite and Visio
