Responsibilities

Capacity Building

  • Provide training and mentoring for nursing and midwifery staff in partner health facilities.
  • Act as a consultant or coach to the facilities’ nurse and midwife in-charges and give professional advice as needed. 
  • Responsible for measuring the impact of each training through pre-tests, post- tests and periodic surveys 
  • Support partner health facilities to draft and implement action plans (related to performance) and follow up on the same in subsequent visits to the facilities. 
  • Provide technical expertise on maternal health commodities and their effective integration into health services. 

Learning and Development: 

  • Provide advice and assist in regular adaptation of training curriculum to the local context. 
  • Design, implement, and evaluate maternal health projects and interventions. 
  • Ensure that partner facility staff understand and correctly complete all required documentation. 
  • Conduct and support research to inform programmatic decisions and policies. 
  • Develop papers, publications, research writing, academic contributions and other knowledge products to disseminate best practices and research findings. 
  • Prepare timely reports, proposals, and presentations.

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Monitor and assess health facility performance against agreed standards. 
  • Collect performance data on site during each partner visit and enter the data using our electronic data collection platform and ensure the quality of the data being collected. 
  • Support partner facilities on timely preparation and submission of monthly reports 
  • Support partner facilities’ staff in the utilization of digital platforms to improve and sustain delivery of quality healthcare. 

Partnership Management

  • Engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, partners, media and communities, to strengthen maternal health systems. 
  • Support the development of fund-raising proposals and periodic donor reports. 
  • Support with periodic hosting of foreign partner guests

Required Skills or Experience

  • Professional qualification as a Registered Midwife. 
  • Minimum of 10 years’ clinical experience in midwifery. 
  • A master’s degree or higher in Public Health, Maternal Health, or a related field. 
  • Demonstrated research background with proven contribution to maternal health studies or publications. 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; must be a good speaker, outspoken and confident. 
  • Experience in program management and stakeholder engagement. 
  • Previous training in clinical quality standards preferred. 
  • Advanced skills in computer use (Microsoft Office)

Working in the roles of trainer and mentor, she has to be passionate, confident, knowledgeable and also teachable with a desire to improve. This job requires a driven personality, self-motivation, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
