SUMMARY

The Assistant Sales and Marketing Manager supports the Sales and Marketing Manager in implementing Afram’s sales and marketing strategies to achieve revenue growth, expand market share, and strengthen customer relationships. 

The role involves co-ordinating sales operations, supervising sales teams, developing marketing initiatives, expanding APL’s market research, and ensuring alignment between sales objectives and marketing campaigns across the company’s product portfolio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Sales Planning and Execution

  • Support the Sales and Marketing Manager in developing and executing annual sales plans and targets.
  • Monitor sales performance across regions and assist in developing strategies to achieve set targets.
  • Supervise Sales Executives and ensure timely reporting on sales, debt collection, and market activities.
  • Participate in key client meetings and negotiations to close sales deals and build strong customer relationships.
  • Ensure adherence to company credit policies and assist in managing debt recovery processes.

2. Marketing and Brand Promotion

  • Assist in planning and executing marketing campaigns, product promotions, and book launch events.
  • Oversee the preparation and distribution of marketing materials, including catalogues, flyers, posters, and digital assets.
  • Collaborate with the design and digital teams to enhance Afram’s brand presence across physical and online platforms.
  • Identify new market opportunities and recommend strategies to penetrate untapped segments, including schools, bookshops, and institutions.

3. Market Research and Intelligence

  • Conduct regular market and competitor analysis to assess trends, pricing, and consumer preferences.
  • Provide reports and insights to guide management decision-making and product positioning.
  • Gather feedback from the field on product performance and customer satisfaction for continuous improvement.

4. Customer Relationship and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with key accounts, distributors, and institutional clients.
  • Ensure customer complaints are addressed promptly and satisfactorily.
  • Support in developing customer loyalty and retention strategies.
  • Represent the company at trade fairs, exhibitions, and industry events.

5. Reporting and Coordination

  • Compile and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on sales, marketing activities, and collections.
  • Track marketing expenditure and ensure alignment with approved budgets.
  • Liaise with internal departments including Finance and Production to ensure smooth execution of sales and marketing operations.

6. Team Support and Leadership

  • Provide guidance and support to Sales Executives and ensure alignment with overall departmental goals.
  • Participate in the training and performance evaluation of sales and marketing staff.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a performance-driven culture.

7. Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing digital sales initiatives and exploring e-commerce opportunities.
  • Undertake any other related duties assigned by the Sales and Marketing Manager or Management.

Required Skills or Experience

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Publishing Studies, or a related field. A professional certificate in Marketing and a Master’s degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales and marketing, preferably in publishing, media, or FMCG sectors.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with digital marketing tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively.
