The NOC Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Network Operations Center, ensuring the availability, stability, and optimal performance of the company's network infrastructure.
This role involves managing a team of NOC engineers and analysts, implementing and refining network monitoring systems, responding to incidents, and ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
The NOC Manager works closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, Operations, and Customer Support, to maintain network resilience, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement within network operations.
Responsibilities
Network Monitoring and Incident Management
- Ensure 24/7 monitoring of network infrastructure to detect, assess, and respond to potential issues promptly.
- Lead and coordinate incident response efforts, providing timely communication and resolution of critical issues.
- Manage escalation processes for significant incidents, ensuring relevant stakeholders are informed and engaged.

Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor the NOC team, providing guidance on best practices, troubleshooting techniques, and professional growth.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, set team objectives, and encourage a high-performance culture.
- Schedule and manage shift rotations to ensure consistent monitoring coverage.
Operational Processes and Compliance
- Develop, implement, and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for network monitoring, incident management, and change management.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, SLAs, and regulatory requirements, driving a culture of accountability within the team.
- Establish and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for NOC operations.
Continuous Improvement and System Optimization
- Identify opportunities for automation and improvement in network monitoring tools, alerting mechanisms, and workflows.
- Work closely with IT and Engineering teams to recommend and implement solutions that enhance network performance and reliability.
- Conduct regular assessments of network performance, analyze trends, and propose solutions to prevent recurring incidents.
Reporting and Documentation
- Generate detailed reports on NOC activities, network health, incident resolution timelines, and SLA adherence.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, incident response actions, and change management records.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration
- Act as the primary point of contact for network operations, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and implement improvements.
- Communicate effectively with management and customers regarding network performance, incidents, and planned maintenance activities.
- Partner with vendors and service providers to coordinate maintenance, upgrades, and service requests.
