Environment Media Africa (EMA) is a purpose-driven digital media organization on a mission to amplify Africa’s green voice through media, innovation, and partnerships.

We believe that environmental stories should not only inform — they must inspire action.

Through our digital news ecosystem, we are building a continental platform that connects local stories to global conversations on climate, waste, water, energy, and sustainability.

EMA is now assembling its Founding Cohort: passionate builders ready to turn vision into impact.

The Role: Digital & Creative Content Manager

As the Digital & Creative Content Manager, you’ll bring EMA’s stories to life through compelling visuals, sound, and digital experiences.

You will lead creative production for video, podcast, and multimedia content, helping transform EMA’s mission into powerful stories that engage millions.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a creative leader who thrives in storytelling, design, and digital innovation.

Role Type: VOLUNTEER

Commitment: 20 hours per week (flexible, remote – Ghana-based)

Key Responsibilities

Creative Direction & Strategy

  • Design and execute EMA’s digital content strategy across YouTube, podcasts, and social channels.
  • Ensure visual and narrative consistency across all platforms.
  • Collaborate with editorial and social leads to translate news, data, and stories into engaging multimedia formats.

Production & Content Creation

  • Oversee the creation of video shows, interviews, and short documentaries for EMA
  • Manage podcast recording, editing, and publishing processes.
  • Develop creative storytelling concepts (animations, reels, short clips) optimized for social media impact.
  • Maintain a simple production workflow using free or low-cost creative tools (Canva, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, Audacity, etc.).

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Coordinate with the Head of News & Storytelling to identify stories worth adapting into visual or audio formats.
  • When possible, work with volunteer editors, videographers, and designers to produce high-quality content.
  • Innovate new creative campaigns that spark conversation and drive environmental awareness.

Growth & Innovation

  • Explore creative collaborations with influencers, filmmakers, and NGOs.
  • Track digital trends to keep EMA’s content fresh and relevant.
  • Help develop EMA’s digital brand identity — visual tone, motion graphics, intros/outros, and audio signatures.

  • Future Growth: Full-Time/Co-founder status as EMA scales.

Operational Essentials Support:

EMA will also provide operational essentials support to assist the candidate in their role:

  • Monthly Internet Data Allowance – to support online collaboration and publishing work.
  • Local Transportation Support – for interviews, events, or on-the-ground work.
  • Official Email Address & Digital Tools Access – (e.g., [email protected], access to Google Workspace, Canva Pro, Trello, Notion, etc.) to enhance professionalism.
  • Press/Media ID – digital or printed credentials for field reporting, events, or outreach.
  • Communication Stipend (Airtime) – allowance for calls or coordination when needed.

Ideal Profile

You are a creative visionary with a storyteller’s heart and a maker’s mindset.

You have:

  • Experience in video editing, design, production, and social content creation.
  • An eye for design, narrative flow, and emotional storytelling.
  • Familiarity with creative tools (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Canva, Audacity, etc.).
  • A strong passion for environmental sustainability, innovation, or impact storytelling.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate virtually in a startup-like, purpose-driven environment.
  • Prior experience in social media content planning or digital campaign design.
  • A basic understanding of analytics or platform growth strategies (FB,IG, TikTok,YT).

Commitment

  • Volunteer position (Minimum 20 hours per week)
  • Fully remote (Ghana-based but open to Africa-wide collaboration)
  • Flexible working hours, with weekly creative sync meetings
