Our client, a well-established and successful airline operating in West Africa, is embarking on an ambitious expansion into long-haul and intercontinental markets. To support this next phase of growth, we are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead and optimize all aspects of the airline’s operations.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the COO will be responsible for translating strategic direction into operational excellence across key functions — Flight Operations, Ground Operations, Maintenance & Engineering, and Customer Experience.
The successful candidate will be a strategic and hands-on aviation leader with a proven record of driving operational efficiency, profitability, safety, and exceptional service delivery within complex airline environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the airline’s operational strategy in alignment with long-term growth and profitability goals.
- Champion safety, security, and regulatory compliance, promoting a strong, proactive safety culture.
- Oversee daily operations, including flight scheduling, crew management, ground handling, and maintenance.
- Ensure fleet reliability, on-time performance, and operational readiness.
- Lead inflight services and customer-facing teams to deliver a consistent, high-quality passenger experience.
- Manage operational budgets, control costs, and leverage data-driven insights to improve performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, airport authorities, and key stakeholders.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement through technology and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Aviation Management, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 10+ years of senior leadership experience in the airline or aerospace industry.
- Demonstrated success managing large-scale, complex operations and leading organizational transformation.
- Strong financial management, strategic planning, and decision-making capability.
- Deep understanding of aviation regulations, safety protocols, and industry trends.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Reporting Line
The Chief Operating Officer reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team.
