Program Overview

The Refill Pharmaceutical Internship Program is a structured six-month training experience for final-year pharmacy students and recent graduates seeking to gain practical exposure in digital pharmacy operations, service delivery, and healthtech innovation.

Hosted by Refill Health Tech Ghana, this internship gives participants the opportunity to work directly with experienced pharmacists, technology teams, and service delivery units that are transforming how Ghanaians access medication.

Interns will be actively involved in the onboarding of pharmacies, quality assurance of prescription processing, and monitoring of digital health services through Refill’s national platform.

Program Objectives

  • Provide real-world experience in pharmacy operations within a digital health ecosystem.
  • Equip interns with skills in quality control, telepharmacy, and pharmaceutical logistics.
  • Bridge the gap between pharmacy education and practical innovation in healthcare delivery.
  • Train interns to contribute to national access-to-medicines initiatives.
  • Prepare graduates for emerging roles in digital health, regulatory compliance, and pharmaceutical management.

Program Structure

  • Duration: 6 Months (November 1, 2025 – April 30, 2026)
  • Mode: Hybrid (remote + periodic in-person sessions in Accra)
  • Cohort Size: 6 interns
  • Allowance: Monthly data and transport support
  • Commitment: 25–30 hours per week
  • Supervision: Each intern will be assigned a pharmacist mentor and departmental lead.

Focus Areas

1. Pharmacy Onboarding & Regulatory Compliance

  • Support new partner pharmacies through licensing documentation and verification.
  • Assist with audits and regulatory submissions.

2. Service Delivery & Patient Support

  • Monitor prescriptions and medication requests through the Refill platform.
  • Provide telepharmacy support under supervision.
  • Track medicine delivery and feedback from clients.

3. Quality Assurance & Data Management

  • Review dispensing accuracy and compliance with Refill’s standards.
  • Contribute to data analysis and reporting on pharmacy performance.

Learning & Development

Interns will gain exposure to:

  • Digital pharmacy systems and tools used in real-world settings.
  • Operational workflows for medicine delivery and stock management.
  • Customer service and communication skills in healthtech environments.
  • Workshops and mentorship sessions with Refill’s senior pharmacists and managers.
  • A Certificate of Completion recognizing outstanding performance.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Ghana-based final-year pharmacy students or recent graduates (within 1 year).
  • Strong foundation in pharmaceutical care, communication, and documentation.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and online research.
  • Interest in digital health, innovation, and patient access to medicines.
