Purpose of the Role

The Terminal Automation System (TAS) Coordinator ensures the seamless operation, maintenance, and optimization of the terminal's automation system. This role involves monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and accurate operations across loading, storage, and dispatch processes.

Key Deliverables

System Management and Operations:

1.TAS Monitoring:

  • Oversee the Terminal Automation System, ensuring its functionality across loading bays, tank levels, and dispatch operations.
  • Monitor real-time data to ensure accuracy and efficiency in terminal operations.

2. System Optimization:

  • Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency and reliability of TAS processes.
  • Implement updates, upgrades, and configurations to improve system performance.

3. Data Integrity:

  • Ensure data accuracy in TAS, including dispatch records, tank inventory, and customer details.
  • Perform regular data backups and maintain system logs.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance

1. System Diagnostics:

  • Diagnose and resolve system errors, ensuring minimal disruption to terminal operations.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance and IT teams to address hardware or software issues.

2. Preventive Maintenance:

  • Schedule and perform preventive maintenance of the TAS to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure the automation hardware (e.g., flow meters, sensors, PLCs) is in optimal condition.

Coordination and Support

1. Stakeholder Liaison:

  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, IT, and external vendors to manage TAS-related tasks and resolve issues.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for TAS vendors for system support and upgrades.

2. User Support

  • Train and support terminal staff on TAS functionalities and processes.
  • Provide real-time assistance during loading and dispatch operations.

Compliance and Reporting:

1. Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure the TAS complies with industry standards, including safety, security, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain documentation for audits and inspections related to TAS.

2. Performance Reporting:

  • Generate and analyze reports on TAS performance, including operational efficiency, errors, and downtime.
  • Provide detailed reports to management with recommendations for improvements.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • System uptime and reliability (% of operational hours).
  • Reduction in TAS-related errors or downtime.
  • Timeliness and accuracy of reports generated from TAS.
  • Training effectiveness and adoption of TAS by terminal staff.
  • Adherence to maintenance schedules and reduction in unplanned system failures.

Required Skills or Experience

Minimum Qualification/ Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience:3-5 years of experience managing terminal automation systems, preferably in LPG, oil & gas, or a related industry.
  • Experience with systems like SCADA, DCS, or PLC is highly desirable.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in automation systems or IT (e.g., SCADA/PLC training, ITIL, or related).

  • Possess an Analytical mindset 
  • Must be hardworking and attentive to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Possess good interpersonal skills

Knowledge / Skills

Technical Knowledge:

  • Expertise in terminal automation systems, SCADA, or related control systems.
  • Strong understanding of automation hardware like flow meters, sensors, and PLCs.

Problem-Solving:

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Strong analytical skills to optimize system performance.

Communication:

  • Ability to communicate technical issues and solutions effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong coordination skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.

IT Skills:

  • Proficiency in database management, networking, and system security protocols.
  • Familiarity with automation software and tools for monitoring and analysis
