The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Head: Public Affairs.

Job Description

  • Plans, develops and implements strategic communication plan.
  • Co-ordinates all media activities of the Association
  • Train Regional, District and Local Officers on effective handing of the media
  • Monitors the media landscape daily and appropriately deal with all issues concerning the Association
  • Briefs management regularly on issues concerning the Association in the media and
  • Strategises responses.
  • Serve as the editor-in-chief of all in-house magazines, journals, articles, press releases, case studies speeches and annual reports
  • Supervises the development of all in-house publicity documents and audiovisual materials
  • Ensures the Association website is always up to date with information and well-maintained
  • Supervises and appraises the performance of direct reports
  • Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the General secretary from time to time

Qualification Required & Experience

  • Must have master’s degree in communications, public policy, Public relations, International Relations, or a related field from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in public affairs, public relations, government relations, media relations or strategic communications
  • Must be at least 40 years and not above 55 years of age
  • Proven track record of influencing public policy and managing complex stakeholder environments
  • Exceptional leadership, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong media acumen and experience in high-stakes communication
  • Must pass a competitive selection interview
  • Having professional certification with the institute of public relations Ghana in good standing as an Associate Member and above or its equivalent is an added advantage
  • A professional teacher and a member of GNAT in good standing will be an added advantage
  • Members wit Ghana Education Service who possess the above experience and qualifications should in addition be on the rank of Assistant Director
  • In-Service staff of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) (Teaching or Non-Teaching) who possess the above qualification and experience should also have at least 3 years working experience within the organization in addition to the above qualification to apply
