Sutherland & Sutherland Architects is searching for an Architect. The starting date for this position is November 2025.
Job Duties
- Coordinate with Engineers and Quantity Surveyors to finalize corresponding drawings and documentation
- Carry out contract administration for the construction of projects
- Attend Design Team Meetings and Workshops and prepare minutes. Follow up teams on action points.
- Prepare periodic progress reports for Project Coordinator and Client
- Assist Design Coordinator to monitor Design Development drawings through stage approvals and sign-offs by coordinator and Client.
- Assist in the coordination of cross-checks of designs and documentation between architects and engineers
- Monitor and track site assessments re: characteristics, topography and geotechnical investigations and issue results to Design Consultants and Project Coordinator
- Monitor and assess cost management processes
- Monitor coordination of BOQ with specifications, Room Data sheets, MEP, Civil and Structural engineers and support Design Coordinator of deviations
- Coordinate and monitor Programmes of Work for different consultant teams and advise on ways of keeping to schedule. Advise on notices to consultant teams
- Participates in construction administration and support, including answering Requests for Clarification, reviewing submittals, and preparing drawings for design changes
- Design and draw architectural working drawings and details
- Prepare technical specifications
- Coordinate and check corresponding engineering drawings
- Coordinate and check corresponding Bills of Quantities
- Quality Assurance and control of design drawings and documentation

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Graduation from a recognised college or university with a Master’s Degree in Architecture or a Professional postgraduate diploma.
- Professional registration with the Ghana Institutes of Architects (GIA) or equivalent professional body is required
EXPERIENCE
Minimum four (4) years of professional architectural experience
Required Knowledge
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge:
- Architectural design and presentation drawings using AutoCad, Revit, Sketch Up or similar computer aided design software. (Proficiency in Revit is preferred)
- Architectural design detailing and specification
- Construction contract administration and supervision of works
- MS Office Suite – MS Word, MS Excel etc.
- Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, Revit and BIM software
- Google drive
The ideal candidate will possess the following abilities:
- Handle large volumes of data and information and process them in an organised way to effectively advise team members on the critical factors for decision-making
- Desire for excellence and high professional standards
- Strong Attention to detail
- Exceptional judgment when applying appropriate methods and techniques of theories, practices and procedures of the field
- Self-management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong project management skills
- Report writing
