About You And The Role

Are you in your final year, eligible for the 2025/2026 National Service? Our national service program gives local youth the necessary skills for employment in instant logistics. Subsequently, successful National Service Personnel in Flight Operations are empowered to apply their acquired skills in the local and international job market.

As a member of Zipline’s Flight Operations team under the National Service Program in one of the Distribution Centers in Ghana, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that the delivery of medical products to health facilities is done in a safe and timely manner. This will involve working with a team of flight operators to conduct regular pre-flight inspections, launching, and recovery of the drones (aircraft). You’ll be trained to assist with regular maintenance of the drones and other equipment at our site to support ongoing operations. You will be expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of our daily operations and processes to support the growth of our operations as we scale.

What You'll Do

As a member of Zipline’s Flight Operations team, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that the delivery of medical products to health facilities is done in a safe and timely manner. This will involve working with a team of flight support operators to conduct regular pre-flight inspections, launching, and recovery of the drones.

Job Responsibilities

  • Launch and Recovery: You will be responsible for the safe assembly of drones in preparation for 150+ flights, perform critical checks, communicate with Zipline controllers in readiness for flight, and launch and disassemble drones on return to the Distribution Center.
  • Ensure appropriate and timely reporting of fleet and system issues to the flight operations team
  • Communicate effectively with flight technicians/Shift coordinator on outstanding issues and bottlenecks observed during the launch and recovery process.
  • When needed, effectively and safely support incident response teams
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and focus in nominal and off-nominal situations and draw the attention of shift coordinators/maintenance technicians scheduled on shift.
  • Consistently follow all standard operating procedures, quality, and safety guidelines
  • Communicate clearly and effectively within and between teams, especially on high-volume days
  • Participate in activities that build team culture and community, such as workplace or culture improvement efforts that bring people together and promote Zipline's values.
  • Ability to provide support or go the extra mile to help others
  • Occasionally take the initiative to identify problems without being directed.

What You'll Bring

  • Diploma or HND/Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Aerospace Engineering
  • You enjoy working in the field and are not afraid to get your hands dirty
  • Ability to stay focused, humble, and safety-conscious during 12 hour shifts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and enjoy work that keeps you on your feet
  • Ability to maintain focus during extended daily flight operations
  • Comfortable troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues with complex, battery-operated machinery
  • Extremely process & detail-oriented
  • Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Must be eligible for National Service for the 2025/2026 year

What Else Do You Need To Know

  • Must be willing and able to work night/weekends on shifts
  • Must be willing and able to work for a period of up to 48 hours or more/week
  • This is a one year full-time position based in one of the six Zipline distribution centers in Ghana
  • Must be willing to relocate to any of our distribution centers in Ghana
  • This program will involve regular communication with customers to process their requests and answer their queries about our stock and seek support
