Special Olympics Ghana is seeking to recruit a National Director.

Job Summary

The National Director will provide strategic leadership and oversight for special Olympics Ghana Programme and National Office to ensure the organization’s mission, vision and objectives are achieved and will be accountable to the Board of Directors. The Successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing an annual strategic plan which is in line with the current Global and Special Olympics Africa Region plans in order to grow the organization’s programmes and services
  • Ensuring that all statutory requirements of the Programme and the Board of Directors are in place to facilitate compliance with relevant local organization, government departments, Acts of Parliament and Legal compliance
  • Overseeing programme development, implementation and evaluation
  • Managing the organization’s finances, human resources and operations, invitations, branding, media return, feedback and appreciation
  • Providing Special Olympics Ghana leadership training to local coaches, volunteers and family members
  • Soliciting financial support that will facilitate Special Olympics Ghana’s expansion, consistent representation at World Games and secure its future through long-term planning and endowment funds (with the Board of Directors)
  • Representing Special Olympics Ghana nationally and internationally

Limits of Authority

  • Determined by Special Olympics Ghana Board of Directors and existing policies
  • Fiscal authority limited to existing policies

Qualification Required & Experience

  • First Degree in a relevant field (e.g Education and or Sports Administration or related studies in business administration or non-profit management), Master’s Degree holder will be an added advantage
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership position, preferably in a non-profit organisation
  • Must be of high character with integrity and strong values
  • Proven track record of strategic planning, programme development and fundraising
  • Excellent communication in English language, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise multiple tasks
  • Working knowledge of management of special needs programmes will be an added advantage
  • Passion for the mission and values of Special Olympics Ghana
