Waltergates Ghana Limited is a leading ICT and Digital Transformation company, delivering innovative solutions across fintech, security, database management, and network integration. As part of our rapid expansion into telecom-based services, including SMPP and USSD platforms, we are seeking a highly skilled Systems and Network Infrastructure Engineer to join our technical team.
Position Summary:
The Systems and Network Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for managing, configuring, and maintaining secure and efficient network infrastructure, setting up VPNs and IPSEC tunnels, provisioning SMPP and USSD platforms, and integrating with telecommunication systems. The role also requires strong expertise in database management to ensure seamless interaction between applications, networks, and data layers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, configure, and administer VPNs and IPSEC connections across company and client systems.
- Provision, configure, and maintain SMPP gateways and USSD services.
- Integrate external telecommunication platforms (MNOs, aggregators, APIs) into existing systems.
- Ensure the security, scalability, and performance optimization of network infrastructures.
- Perform system audits, network diagnostics, vulnerability assessments, and necessary upgrades.
- Collaborate with telecom partners and internal software development teams to manage integration projects.
- Set up monitoring tools and alerts for system performance, uptime, and security breaches.
- Manage company and client database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or equivalent) and ensure high-availability setups.
- Document network, system, and database architectures and maintain detailed records of configurations.
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and user training as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years experience in network administration, telecom system integration, and database management.
- Strong technical knowledge of VPNs (OpenVPN, L2TP, IPSEC), Firewalls, and Router Configuration (e.g., MikroTik, Cisco, Fortinet).
- Hands-on experience with SMPP server setups (e.g., Kannel, Jasmin) and USSD gateway integrations.
- Good knowledge of APIs and system integration with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs).
- Proficiency in database administration (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases).
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Digital Ocean) is an added advantage.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation and system management.
- Knowledge of security standards and best practices in telecommunications and networking.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
