Job Description
Will be responsible for the operation and maintaining the cutting and edging machine.
Duties:
- Maintenance: Daily cleaning and upkeep of machinery to keep operations running smoothly – draw up and implement a schedule to perform routine maintenance, such as cleaning dust extraction systems, lubricating moving parts, and replacing worn-out components. Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
- Cross-Training & Team Coordination: Train operators to handle multiple machines and troubleshoot common problems, ensuring coverage if key personnel are unavailable. Maintain clear communication between production teams to quickly adapt to workflow changes.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols and machinery specifications.
- Setup & Adjustment: Streamline machine setup times by preparing tools, blades, and machine settings in advance for the next job. Utilize standardized work processes to reduce idle time between production runs.
- Setting up and adjusting equipment such as feeders, rollers, cutters, gauge and edging bars.
- Measurement & Quality: Using tools to measure and ensure the workpieces meet required specifications, both for width and thickness.
- Material Flow Regulation: Ensure a steady supply of boards, adhesives, and edge banding materials to prevent stoppages and ensure a smooth workflow of boards between the cutting and edge banding machines Coordinate with inventory teams to anticipate shortages and reorder supplies before they impact production.
- Ensuring Continuous Production: Proactively maintain machines, anticipate material needs, and quickly address issues to prevent downtime, keeping the production line running smoothly and maximizing productivity.
- Quality Control: Maintaining high standards of work consistently - continuously inspect boards during and after processing for accuracy in length, width, and accurate edging according to customer specifications. Identify and correct issues such as chipping, rough edges, or misalignment, and bad edging quality.

Required Skills or Experience
- Experience: Previous experience with board cutting and edging machinery is required.
- Working Under Pressure: Must be able to maintain efficiency and accuracy in a fast-paced production environment, managing high workloads and tight deadlines without compromising quality.
- Accuracy and Precision: Must have the ability to minimize wastage and ensure precise cutting through careful calibration and interpretation of cutting lists.
