A Multinational Financial Institution seeks the services of an IT Support Officer for their Head Office in Accra.
General Description
The holder of the role is responsible for administering all databases, Networking and systems, including but not limited to, jBase databases, SQL databases and business applications, the holder will also set up and administer, configure backup solutions. In addition, serve as a technical expert in the area of system and Network administration for complex operating systems amongst others.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the host computers by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair.
- Ensure that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained.

- Apply revisions to host system firmware and software.
- Works with vendors to assist support activities.
- Recons on savings, investments and lending products to ensure accurate reporting on interest income and interest expense.
- Perform troubleshooting as required. Work directly with IT personnel and business teams to resolve issues identified and escalated during daily operations and supervises operations staff including training and evaluation.
- Manages the data center and computer host systems including hardware, software and equipment such as air-conditioning system, UPS (uninterrupted power system) and fire protection system.
- Configure and support VLAN, VPN and Remote Access Technologies.
- Enforce guidelines/principles/policies for the operation of the network services and provide secure, reliable, and efficient LAN/WLAN/WAN services.
- Ensure efficient network management and monitoring using a range of network management suites.
- Configuration and maintenance of CCTV infrastructure.
- VOIP Technology setup and support (e.g. grand stream, 3cx, etc.
Required Skills or Experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Required Bachelor’s degree in the area of Computer Information Systems, Management information Systems, Computer Science or Technical related field.
- Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or Technical related field.
- At least 3 years’ hands-on experience in managing large databases, SQL server system administration, in complex systems design, programming and systems software and support.
- Experience in jBase, and SQL running on Linux and Windows platforms will be an added advantage
- Certification - SQL Server Administration
- Attention to detail, analytical skills and ability to research and apply problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, customer focus and interpersonal relations skills
- Knowledge of Banking business operations in preferred
- Ability to: Plan, organize and document complex system design activities and to configure systems to be consistent with institutional policies/procedures, communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing, establish and maintain cooperation understanding, trust and credibility, perform multiple task concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively
- Knowledge of and experience in: Programming Languages and operating systems, current equipment and technologies in use; Unix and Windows system administration, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring tools, principles and practices of effective management and supervision
