Position Title: Maintenance Coordinator

Position Overview:

The Maintenance Coordinator at Alpha Beta Education Centres is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of the school’s buildings and facilities. This includes coordinating and supervising plumbing, carpentry, steelwork, and other related tasks to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

Building Maintenance and Repairs:

• Conduct regular inspections of school buildings and facilities to identify maintenance needs.
• Schedule and oversee routine maintenance tasks, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting work.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs and ensure work is completed to standard.

Plumbing:

• Supervise plumbing tasks, including installation, repair, and maintenance of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing systems.
• Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies and ensure timely resolution.

Carpentry and Steelwork:

• Oversee carpentry tasks such as building, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures.
• Maintain an inventory of carpentry tools and supplies and ensure they are in good working condition.

Safety and Compliance:

• Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations and building codes.
• Conduct safety audits and implement measures to mitigate risks.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.

Budget and Inventory Management:

• Assist in preparing and managing the maintenance budget.
• Monitor and control inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
• Procure necessary materials and supplies while ensuring cost-effectiveness.

Team Coordination:

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance staff and external contractors.
• Ensure clear communication and effective collaboration among team members.

Preventative Maintenance:

• Develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule to prolong the lifespan of school facilities and equipment.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance schedules and completed tasks.

Emergency Response:

• Be on call for emergency maintenance needs and respond promptly to urgent repair requests.
• Develop and maintain an emergency response plan for maintenance issues.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Vocational training in maintenance or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in building maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, and woodwork.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance procedures, safety regulations, and building codes.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
