The West Africa Network for Peacebuilding, Ghana (WANEP-Ghana) is a non-profit making peacebuilding Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). It is a civil society institution meant to prevent, resolve, and transform violent conflicts through collective and coordinated efforts of NGOs, local and national state institutions as well as individuals actively engaged in peacebuilding practice in Ghana in order to avoid the duplication of efforts and maximize resources for more effective responses to conflict situations.
The organization seeks to facilitate the creation of a sustainable culture of non-violence, justice, peace and social reconciliation in Ghanaian communities.
Job Description
- Department: Programmes
- Duty Location: Tamale, Northern Region
- Immediate Supervisors: Project Manager
- Tenure: One (1) year, renewable
The Project Officer will facilitate implementation of the Trust2Peace Activities in the Upper East and Northern Regions. The Activity is funded by USAID through the University of Maryland for northern Ghana.

Required Skills or Experience
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Must hold a minimum of a first degree in social science, peacebuilding, community organization, or related field from any accredited tertiary institution. A master’s degree will be an added advantage.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of post-national service development intervention and/or community organization experience especially in peacebuilding, building community cohesion, conflict mitigation, gender and security.
- Competent in technically facilitating community group workshops
- Possess great people skills with a flexible approach to get the best out of a range of relationships with project stakeholders.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both oral and written including report writing and drafting of knowledge resources.
- Possess community mobilization knowledge and competences; be culturally sensitive and exhibiting ability to work actively with diverse range of stakeholders across northern Ghana.
- Ability to demonstrate high degree of professionalism within a rapidly changing and difficult peacebuilding, conflict mitigation and social cohesion landscape.
- Highly competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Internet resources
