Job Description
- Reporting To: Maintenance Supervisor
Job Purpose
Under general supervision, the purpose of this role is to ensure the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures within the hotel setting.
Additionally, you are required to ensure and provide for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems within the entire hotel facilities.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems and submit report to Supervisor
- Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders.
- Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment, including sinks, commodes, water heaters, water softeners, etc.
- Repair dishwashers and kitchen equipment that incorporate gas or water consumption
- Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
- Estimate materials and supplies needed for installation purposes and submit to supervisor for requisition.
- Ensure maintenance and repair works are completed correctly whilst ensuring maintenance procedures and schedules are strictly adhered to.
- Maintain inventory of hotel’s plumbing tools, materials and equipment.
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.

- Perform other related duties as maybe assigned.
- Respond to emergency calls as and when needed
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
Work Relationships
- Coordinates with: All departmental heads and staff within the hotel
Required Skills or Experience
Educational Qualification and Experience
- A senior high school or NVTI Certificate in specialized trade from a recognize institution.
- At least 2 years of proven work experience as a plumber.
Skills
- Knowledge of plumbing codes, repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
- Familiarity with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and copper
- Ability to work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, around gas lines, around fumes and toxic chemicals, outside and inside.
- Ready to be exposure to extreme temperatures.
- Must be physically able to perform installation and repairs works
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and practices.
- Ability to stand and move on feet for long periods of time
- Team spirit with flexibility to work on shifts, night hours, holidays, etc.
